Fans Rip Garcia-Romero And Canelo-Scull PPV Prices – ‘Imagine Paying’
Boxing fans have ripped the Ryan Garcia vs. Rolly Romero and Canelo Alvarez vs. William Scull PPVs prices.
Boxing fans will see the two cards take place in May, starting with Ryan Garcia vs. Rolando Romero on May 2nd. It is the first time that Garcia will enter the ring following his boxing ban that emerged after he beat Devin Haney. Garcia’s majority decision win became a no-contest after he failed VADA tests for Ostarine. Ryan denied taking any substances, but the New York State Athletic Commission did not see it that way, setting the narrative for a bigger Haney rematch.
Haney also boxes on the same card as Ryan and Romero against Jose Ramirez. The fight will take place at 147 as questions remain over Haney’s mindset. He was dropped three times in the Garcia fight, with his defensive skills exposed. It remains to be seen if Haney can mentally recover, especially since Ramirez is known for fighting on the front foot. Teofimo Lopez also appears on the card against Arnold Barboza Jr. He will defend his WBO Junior Welterweight Title after beating Steve Claggett in his last bout.
PPV Prices
Canelo Alvarez will box in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, the following day. He faces William Scull, knowing that a win makes him the Undisputed Super Middleweight Champion for the second time. In chief support, Jaime Munguia will box Bruno Surace in a rematch after having been stopped in their first fight. While the cards have big names, boxing fans were not happy with the price. The two cards are priced at $59.99 each, or $89.99 for both fights in a bundle. Boxing fans were unhappy since the Saudis have previously said they wanted a PPV price near $20.

Reito Tsutsumi, Highly Regarded Prospect, To Debut On May 2 In Times Square
Reito Tsutsumi, widely regarded as a Japanese boxing prodigy, will make his pro debut May 2 in Times Square, New York, in a six-round junior lightweight fight, sources told The Ring.
Tsutsumi, who lost just twice in 61 amateur fights, will face Chicago’s Levale Whittington (1-2-1, 1 KOs).
Tsutsumi’s highly anticipated pro debut will serve as the the lone undercard fight to support the Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves pay-per-view card featuring Ryan Garcia, Devin Haney and Teofimo Lopez in separate fights.
"Since I was a child, I have dreamed of competing in the professional boxing world," Tsutsumi, 22, told The Ring last month. "Becoming a world champion is just a stepping stone - if I'm going to do this, I want to be the best.
"My ultimate goal is to become the No. 1 pound-for-pound fighter in the world."
Tsutsumi, a southpaw from Chiba City, is the younger brother of Hayato Tsutsumi, a 6-0 junior lightweight.
Garcia will fight Rolly Romero in the main event May 2, while Haney faces Jose Ramirez and Lopez defends his Ring Magazine junior welterweight championship against Arnold Barboza Jr.

Re: Ryan Garcia vs. Rolly Romero | DAZN PPV - 2 May 2025
Ryan Garcia's suspension lifted, clear to fight Rolando Romero
Ryan Garcia is officially cleared to fight Rolando "Rolly" Romero.
The New York State Athletic Commission had suspended Garcia for a failed drug test following his April 2024 decision win over Devin Haney. But just ahead of his May 2 fight with Romero in Times Square, NYSAC has officially lifted the suspension.
"The suspension has been lifted as all conditions of the Consent Order have been met," a NYSAC spokesperson said in a statement to ESPN.
The victory was overturned to a no contest, and Garcia was suspended from competition for one year, hit with a $10,000 fine, and forced to forfeit his entire purse from the Haney fight after the banned substance Ostarine was found in samples collected by the Voluntary Anti-Doping Association (VADA). Haney filed a civil lawsuit against Garcia and received an undisclosed portion of Garcia's purse.
Garcia, 26, spent the past year carrying out the conditions of the suspension, including submitting to randomized drug tests. Now clear of his suspension, Garcia will headline the May 2 card against Romero while Haney will compete in the co-main event against Jose Ramirez Jr. with the expectation that a rematch between Garcia and Haney will take place later this year if both win their respective fights.

Re: Ryan Garcia vs. Rolly Romero | DAZN PPV - 2 May 2025
“I’m happy this fight is finally happening because we get to find out what would happen in a real fight,” Garcia would say.
Both Garcia and Romero would go back and forth for a while before getting into an argument about who’s looked worse in their recent outings.
“I looked like sh-t but you got knocked out looking for Easter eggs with Isaac Cruz,” Garcia exclaimed. “You didn’t even know where you were at after the fight, he beat you that bad.”
A short while later the segment would hit its crescendo when Garcia questioned Romero’s resume — something Romero would get a little defensive about.
“I fought f-ckin’ punchers, bro” Romero said about his past opponents. “I fought a bunch of punchers.”
“Who?” Garcia asked.
“Barroso is a f-ckin’ crazy puncher,” Romero responded.
“Who?! The one that was on his way to beat you? The old man? The grandpa?!” Garcia questioned.
“So what, he was a f-ckin’ hard fight,” Romero said.
“Everybody knows it was a f-cked up [stoppage]. Everybody knows that. You were losing to him, you got dropped, but maybe he does hit hard,” Garcia replied.
“He f-ckin’ punches hard as sh-t” Romero would say, prompting Garcia to bust out laughing.

Gotta love Rolly, he’s made a career out of trash talking and not much else - I mean he’s just not that good, but he’s probably a multimillionaire several times over due to his motor mouth ( he used to stutter as a kid..well, he put that right ) - although to be fair, Tank did say that he’s the hardest puncher hes faced ( after Danny Garcia in sparring ) Although Rolly is out of ammunition here, because he’s usually saying how ugly his opponents are. Anyway, he’s a brave kid, but he’s getting knocked out here.
Also amazing the way that the Ring and the promotion are presenting Ryan Garcia like he’s the next coming of Jesus Christ. No mention of his drug past at all. I mean, he’s a prime example how you handle a drug scandal, you just brazen it out. Laugh it off.
Is this a free event in times square? So how do they stop hundreds of thousands of people, just turning up to watch it?
Always great to watch Teo Lopez, a man who’s even crazier than Ryan Garcia.
About £22 on DAZN it seems. Or a special combo deal with Canelo, but I’ve got no interest in that fight at all. I don’t know why they’re even bothering
Oh, I forgot that the Canelo show has a pretty decent undercard, specifically the heavyweight fight

Re: Ryan Garcia vs. Rolly Romero | DAZN PPV - 2 May 2025
The main thing that pisses me off with DAZN is their PPVs. I’ve no real issue paying for the Saudi shows with Brits or U.K. shows but I’m not paying PPV for the Times Square show or the Canelo show. Neither have fights I really want to see and both are early hours in the U.K.MightyWarrior wrote: ↑29 Apr 2025, 04:22 Gotta love Rolly, he’s made a career out of trash talking and not much else - I mean he’s just not that good, but he’s probably a multimillionaire several times over due to his motor mouth ( he used to stutter as a kid..well, he put that right ) - although to be fair, Tank did say that he’s the hardest puncher hes faced ( after Danny Garcia in sparring ) Although Rolly is out of ammunition here, because he’s usually saying how ugly his opponents are. I’d imagine they get very few buys in the U.K. for that reason so it’s stupid they even bother to me.
Same for Eubank/Benn in the US. I’d be surprised if it had 1,000 buys over there.
