Man I loved Shavers but I do not see anyway for him to survive against Ike.

Ike by 10th round stoppage. Earnie may hurt Ike a couple of times, but Ike survives to win.

ike ko, plenty chin, power, and stamina of his own to give him the better chance of breaking shavers first

what about earnie vs tua?

I think Ike would have come undone quickly had he continued his career. His entire career consists of having life and death with David Tua and stopping Chris Byrd.

Ike Ibeabuchi wins. In sometime in the fight, Earnie Shavers gets tired of connecting some wicked shots to the jaw and says "Man! What I got to do to put this guy out? He's not going anywhere!"

Shavers get tired by the eleventh round, and Ibeabuchi takes over. Ibeabuchi by knockout in the eleventh round in a thrilling slugfest.

those were both very good wins, beat tua at his own game, showing loads of chin (beyong what shavers had) and stamina, then power and accuracy vs a hard to stop slickster in byrd

he was a head case outside the ring, but nothing showed he was weak minded inside

Earnie wins by not being in Prison.

Claims of Shavers being the hardest puncher in boxing history are now very dated. Ibeabuchi is too strong and durable plus he has surprisingly good handspeed. With Shavers coming straight at him this one is over inside of about 3 rds.

Yes, but Byrd and Shavers are just about polar opposites.

He of course comes closer and Ibeabuchi managed to eke out a close win. My point is that Ibeabuchi's legacy is based more on what could have happened than on what actually did.

true, a big part of his mystique is the what if factor, but the wins over tua and byrd showed he could perform, and beat guys with very different strengths and styles

showed hell of a chin and stamina vs tua, and smashed byrd like no one else did. that wasnt just hypothetical

I always figured his ceiling was oliver mccall - maybe score an upset title win

Shavers was in the same boat. Close against ali and holmes; maybe could have poached a title in the fractured title era
