I worded that badly. Be the biggest promoter in boxing, not just biggest financier.

I do feel for Turki. Usyk unifies, then because the IBF are on their period, he's not Undisputed any more. It makes no sense what-so-ever.
Re: Will Dana White finish off Hearn and Warren?
I wonder if Turki is now feeling the boxers / promoters are being over payed for the revenue they are bringing in terms of tourism to the UAE and this is one way to try and get the big fights still, but for less money.
The current system is not financially sustainable - even though the pockets are ridiculously deep.

I don't think the Saudi's are overpaying for fights.stujones wrote: ↑10 Mar 2025, 07:40 I wonder if Turki is now feeling the boxers / promoters are being over payed for the revenue they are bringing in terms of tourism to the UAE and this is one way to try and get the big fights still, but for less money.

They have money, but they're not daft.
I reckon they're just paying a fraction above market value. The promoters are going along cus he's putting up the money.

Re: Will Dana White finish off Hearn and Warren?
Hearn has never talked about retiring as much as he has recently.
It does seem odd that Turki is bringing in someone who isn't a boxing promoter to promote a boxing league - Coupled with the rumours of Turki being irritated by the other promoters and how they go about business - They've likely taught him a lot.
Surprising to read that they may well show these fights on Netflix and not Dazn.
I think the give away will be of tko start signing current boxers as well as the fresh talent they need for the league format.

I guess we will never really know - but at the moment all the traditional stumbling blocks Turki has put in he gets around them and quickly.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑10 Mar 2025, 08:25I don't think the Saudi's are overpaying for fights.stujones wrote: ↑10 Mar 2025, 07:40 I wonder if Turki is now feeling the boxers / promoters are being over payed for the revenue they are bringing in terms of tourism to the UAE and this is one way to try and get the big fights still, but for less money.

I remember even with a rematch clause it took AJ and Usyk about a year between their first and second fights. Fury another one - would sometimes be close to a year between fights - all the deals, TV rights, stipulations. It is amazing how much money solves things.
There is no way - if Parker was fighting for queensbury and Dubois pulled out that FW would have got Bakole in there.
I think the only way these fights are being done and so quickly is money - so I would hate to think how much Turki is not only paying the boxers, but the TV, managers, agents, promoters etc - just for everyone to go "yes boss, no boss, three bags full boss" without a "hang on, my fighters is worth blah blah".
I think the boxing league will mean less money for the fighters - BUT still the MOST money. Well it might not be less money for them, but I think with all the other considerations - I don't think Turki will be writing as big a cheque.

Re: Will Dana White finish off Hearn and Warren?
From the looks of it, his goal is to gather up all the biggest names in the sport, and make it known that anybody that isn't Boxing on his cards is a 2nd rate Boxer basically. Or at least make that the perception. He wants to have all of the Real World Champions, and quit recognizing the Alphabet titles. Which honestly I have no issue with.stujones wrote: ↑10 Mar 2025, 10:26I guess we will never really know - but at the moment all the traditional stumbling blocks Turki has put in he gets around them and quickly.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑10 Mar 2025, 08:25I don't think the Saudi's are overpaying for fights.stujones wrote: ↑10 Mar 2025, 07:40 I wonder if Turki is now feeling the boxers / promoters are being over payed for the revenue they are bringing in terms of tourism to the UAE and this is one way to try and get the big fights still, but for less money.

I suspect the Alphabet groups will stick around, but their Champions in time probably will indeed come to be known as 2nd rate Champions avoiding the real big names.
Re: Will Dana White finish off Hearn and Warren?
Dana is the best fight promoter in the world. He has always worked for financiers and given them a return. He has always given fans value for money. He helped build a multi-billion dollar plus business from an initial investment of $2million by his backers. He knows how to deal with all levels of corporate and public structures from the customer to the President of the USA.
He is prepared to be the boss. He doesn't allow any fighter to dictate to him and overvalue their worth to the company and sport. There is always another champion in waiting banging on his door who can be built.

Re: Will Dana White finish off Hearn and Warren?
I suspect a large part of it is how things have thus far failed to take off in America.
After the beterbiev event in LA, Saudi's PIF made it known they wouldn't be funding any more multi-million losing events in the US like that and wanted all in Saudi going forward.
That must have stung his ego enormously. Also explains why he is "using his own money" for these Ring-branded events.
He's likely concluded (correctly) that FW and EH aren't the guys to move the needle in the USA.
So as rich people do, he's looked around and gone "who's doing the best right now?". That's UFC /TKO so he's gone to them.
Arum is 1000 years old and losing ESPN deal, Oscar is a mad cokehead. They won't even have been on the shortlist for US partners.

Also, further to the above...
I feel like these events have all been kind of meh. They're spending a ton of money but the production etc has been simultaneously underwhelming and over the top.
The press conferences are all wooden and crap, but on cartoonishly grand stages, and the events in Saudi have the deadest atmosphere I've ever encountered at an event.
He's surely noticed that himself.

Re: Will Dana White finish off Hearn and Warren?
I dint think that will matter if they have all the top fighters and they are fighting each other without concern for protecting records. if anything i think it could be seen as a saviour to the crooked behaviours of those organisations.keithmoonhangover wrote: ↑09 Mar 2025, 09:32Yeah, but UFC was the original thing. In this scenario, they are the Kerry Packer's World Series Cricket, where the WBC and WBA have been around since god was a lad.Steveh583 wrote: ↑07 Mar 2025, 18:06 It may force a situation like UFC, PFL etc where Dana's organisation is seen as the "true" one, the prestigious organisation that everyone recognises cos it has all the premier fighters,,,,,and Eddie and Frank will be picking up the scraps with little interest from the fans who aren't diehards.
Re: Will Dana White finish off Hearn and Warren?
Too take over he needs the best boxers .the champs .and he needs most of them . To get them he can.t show favoritism. And he does

I am not a believer than turki and Dana will complete take over boxing… buttt, Hearn really is ok struggle street when you exclude turki funded shows…
His march/ April/ may schedual is
-Crocker vs Donovan,UK
-ammo Williams vs voloni, USA
-kambosos vs yordan, Aus
-march 28 show so weak I don’t know who is headlining, UK
-Enna vs Stanton’s (usa)
-dalton vs germain (uk)
-Fisher vs Allen (UK)
Non of these have good undercard either. Which is pathetic for 3 months that are traditionally quite strong in boxing. (More could be added but still)

I get the feeling Earn with Hearn has lost a lot of his passion for the fight.gregregegg wrote: ↑10 Mar 2025, 19:16 I am not a believer than turki and Dana will complete take over boxing… buttt, Hearn really is ok struggle street when you exclude turki funded shows…

His ego is such that he can't play second fiddle and probably the reason why when he's taking a shellacking from all sides he takes it out on Shalom.
Frank has come from the dead and is streets ahead of Eddie now. Turki has shafted him and he is resorting to Benn as his cash cow.
The guy must be minted and even though he is still working his nuts off, he doesn't seem up for the fight.
The Hearn of 10 years ago wouldn't call anyone his excellency nor would he play second fiddle to Frankie boy

Wonder if DD , suddens sickness , and then looking to give Parker a miss, and wants to fight usyk again has pissed him off , Gave him a proper insight into what and whom he's dealing with .
Oh Well it was good while it lasted , Suppose back to Benn on ppv , with Hatton has main support now

Honestly if The Magnificent Turkey saved us from this then I for one welcome him as our new overlord.
