Daniel Dubois vs. Derek Chisora - IBF Mandatory

Post by Ruthless-RKO »

IBF TO ORDER DANIEL DUBOIS-DEREK CHISORA, UNDISPUTED FIGHT WITH OLEKSANDR USYK TO TAKE PRECEDENCE

Derek Chisora could find himself in a heavyweight world title fight for his 50th and final bout later this summer.

The Ring has learned that the IBF will order their champion Daniel Dubois (22-2, 21 KOs) to defend against No. 2-rated Chisora (36-13, 23 KOs) by June 21, with the mandatory to be called on April 22. World Boxing News were first to report the news.

A spokesperson for the IBF told The Ring: "Derek Chisora is the mandatory challenger for Daniel Dubois but the mandatory bout is due to be ordered on April 22.

"There is not enough time for an eliminator since Dubois’ mandatory is due on June 21."

Originally, Martin Bakole and Efe Ajagba were scheduled to battle it out for the mandatory spot but once the former stepped in to fight Joseph Parker for the WBO 'interim' heavyweight title, losing by second-round stoppage, the fight, which will go ahead on May 3, lost its No. 1 contender status.

It's widely expected, however, that Dubois will seek to unify his title with Oleksandr Usyk's WBA, WBO, WBC and Ring belts for the chance to become the undisputed champion.

In that case, a fight with Usyk would take precedence over a mandatory title defence against Chisora.

The spokesperson added: "If Daniel Dubois wants to pursue the unification, that would take precedence over the mandatory."

Chisora, 41, had the 49th fight of his career last month, beating Otto Wallin by unanimous decision. And last summer, he also overcame Joe Joyce on points in a gruelling contest.

Dubois hasn't been in action since knocking out Anthony Joshua in five rounds at Wembley Stadium last September.

He was supposed to clash with Joseph Parker on February 22 in Riyadh, but a fight-week virus struck 'Dynamite' down and he had to be pulled from the bout.

I’d give chisora a chance.

I wonder if this mando is transferable… will this be the chip that gets chisora an AJ fight while ddd is fighting Usyk…

Hopfuly Usyk vs Parker

Chisora vs DDD

AJ vs kabayal.

But happy to swap ddd and AJs places.

Or even Parker and kabayal places

EFE got shafted. Bakole too for saving the day.

Then Chizzy get's the fight.

Boxing politics all day, everyday.

I like Chisora though, but this isn't going to end well is it. The Dubois that fought AJ can end this in the first round, and painfully. Hopefully it isn't damaging enough, and Chisora can enjoy his well earned retirement after.

Yep. Don't think the IBF have done ethe right thing here at all. If they couldn't get another opponent for Efe then just putting him in with Chisora would've made more sense. This reeks of Warren. How has Dubois got Chisora as his first mandatory despite not having had an IBF final eliminator? When was the last time the IBF ordered a mandatory who was not ranked 1 and had not won a final eliminator?

You're joking, right? This version of DD and this version of Chisora is pure mis-match territory.

I'm pretty sure AJ and Kabayel has sparred quite a lot. If AJ picks that fight next, he must be confident he can get the better of Kabayel. It's a very dangerous fight for him to choose though based on recent performances.

Its not a great fight, BUT - Chisora, even the 2025 version of Chisora would probably go down as DDD third best win. At the moment, people are hailing him as the next coming of Ali based on 2 fights - one against Hirgovic (in a fight he was arguably losing at the time of the stoppage) and the other against Joshua who, when Joshua was bashing Wallin from pillar to post in a one sided beat down, fans were hailing Joshua as "back" - Chisora does pretty much the same (albeit for 12 rounds and not the KD) it is "Wallin is crap".

Parker deserves Usyk fight. Chisora's wins warrant "some kind" of reward - I would have much rather seen Pulev 3 rubber match for the WBA title, but I am okay with this one. I would have rather this, than fight someone like Whyte where we would be saying about the winner "oh but the loser is shot so it means nothing".

Bakolie should not have faced Parker, everytime you fight there should be some kind of risk if you lose. I would not like to have seen Bakolie vs DDD on the back of the Parker loss either.

Fourth IMO but your general point is valid:-
1. Miller (Miller would absolutely batter Chisora and Joshua)
2. Hrgovic (would beat Joshua)
3. Joshua

Urgh.

What a waste of our time.
Joshua didn't deserve a title shot, and neither does Del Boy.

Edit: I would laugh so hard if Dubois lost!

Has Chisora ever had a genuine world class win? He’s basically a journeyman / gatekeeper, albeit an extremey well paid one.

his list of wins isnt so different than wilders: scott, szpilka, washington, takam, pulev, wallin, joyce, price

split or md losses: parker, whyte, kabayel, helenius (laughable robbery), pulev

only who beat him by UD without needing multiple tries: usyk, fury, and tbf pulev clearly won their first fight

cant deny his level of opposition has been outstanding, pretty much everyone at hw bar a few would have plenty of losses taking on the same opposition. he's usually very competitive in defeat, and every time he loses he comes back after with a decent win

Weirdly not.

I’d have DDD as a solid favorite. But chisora is always dangerous somehow.

DDD is in good form, but hrg and big baby and lerenia did give him a tough night in there own different ways.

He wasn't dangerous against Vitali, David Haye, or Tyson Fury 13 years ago or whatever it was, or Usyk and Tyson latterly. When was the last time he knocked somebody out who anybody has heard of? The corpse of David Price six years ago.

Not sure about that. Chisora hasn't beat anybody worth talking about since then, don't you think?

Wallin got spanked by AJ and didn't come to win against Chisora IMO
Joyce got spanked twice by 40 odd year old Zhang who has been beaten twice since.
Gerald Washington is a 40 year old football player who was coming off multiple losses

As good as he could potentially have been at one point, Fury's resume is crap and will go down in history as being crap. He can't do anything about that now but he is very wealthy.
