Do mean has the middleweight division over been better than the say the light weight division?
I don't I think it mostly averages out to be pretty close over time.
I do think the small weights are usually the weakest. The talent pool for the flyweight and the bantamweight divisions are small to begin with. Plus, the talent got further weakened in those divisions with the additions of the Super bantam weight, super flyweight, junior flyweight, and straw weight divisions.
Do we really need weight classes at 122, 118, 115, 112, 108, and 105? Of course not.

Re: What do you rank all divisions in boxing history
All original 8 weight classes have history. It just depends what weight class you like the most. If you like to see the big punchers, the big dogs go at it, then there's the heavyweights.
If you want to see speed, boxing skills, terrific pace, and great ring generalship, then you can pick any weight class of your choice.
The flyweight division is the division that doesn't get much love for a reason. I guess nobody cares for the little men. But, the pace, skill, balance and ring generalship of these little men are unbelievably good.
