According to the boxrec schedule, Greenburg's opponent for his fight in Monaco (start of November) will be Alexei Varakin (Global Boxing Union heavyweight champion of the world,) who has lost to Greenburg's last opponent Vassilev (admittedly this was 7 years ago.)

Varakin has been the tried and tested punchbag for Skelton, Valuev, Chagaev and (many) others over the years.

You know I'm sure I remember Grrenburg and his team telling the world he was stepping it up this year. In which case he is going to have one very busy December

It's getting farcical really. I know he's young, but it's practically become a standing joke.

Jim Evans is a great guy, he really is, but he said Greenberg could beat Danny Williams right now. I should explain that "right now" was said over a year ago.

Whether or not Roman can or can't beat Williams, the point here is they are still matching Greenberg againt inferior opposition, so Evans claims are are bit tough to swallow.

Prove it!

seen nothing in Greenburg to suggest me he can do very much, not great power okay hand speed no lateral movement no head movement. Anyone else see a world beater or just anothere Hype job.

Reminds me of all the hype that was placed upon other up and coming (back then) jewish fighters salita and foreman...it made for a good copy, an interesting angle...trouble is/was that none of them are particularly good, hence arum losing interest in salita as a ticket-seller and presumably the wheels are slowly coming off the greenberg hype train too..

Due to Greenbergs age they can take their time with him. It will be a while before you see him in any sort of meaningful contest. Same with Khan, it could be years. not good for the fans but good for the businessmen.

I remember seeing Salita in one of his early bouts against Miguel Mares (think it was the Mayweather-Chavez undercard) and he looked promising but a work i progress, seeing him recently in with Shad Howard that is still my prognosis! Hence he isn't really going anywhere either.

On to Greenberg and he is purely a hype job, nothing i have seen of him so far even suggests he can make European level successfully yet. His level of opposition has been pitiful for a "prospect".

Rumours fly around in boxing more than fleas on a dog. However I have heard more than once that Michael Sprott has put Greenberg down in sparring a couple of times, though admittedly the ring in Jim Evans gym is quite small. That might be why Roman is carefully matched.
