mike is a 41 year old former american football player. short hw at about 6 feet. stopped tommy morrison's kid , but was then erased in 2 rounds by murat gassiev. hasnt fought in a year.
kinda a random opponent tbh, balogun hadnt even entered my thoughts once for about 2 years since he fought gassiev

Terrible opponent. Makes no sense from any perspective.
Worse opponent than McKean. Won't give him rounds. Doesn't get him closer to a title or move him up the alphabet rankings. Doesn't get the fans attention or bring in a lot of money. Isn't an unknown or a possible challenge. Even Hysa would've made more sense than Balogun.

Yeah I just had a look at the guy getting knocked out - the first time he gets hit he goes down and pretty much quits on the canvas. he’s not gonna last a round, useless

I feel this is appropriate -

That’s a reasonable opponent for where he is at, throws a bit of heat back, but not very good.
Only shame about it is gassiev didn’t him in 2 rounds so not sure how many rounds Moses will get out of this…That said gassiev is a beast himself so who knows.
If this fight was announced for August I’d be sad… but for may, it’s fineee.

moses hasnt fought in 6 months by the time of this card, only reason it may feel like a quick on the fly type of fight is because its been announced so close to the date.gregregegg wrote: ↑10 Apr 2025, 16:39 That’s a reasonable opponent for where he is at, throws a bit of heat back, but not very good.

if moses were coming off the mckean win and had this 2 months later or whatever that would be okay, but 6 months too long a break to end up with a guy like this and not have people disappointed in it.
its not really a big deal in the long run of things, since moses is so young and already being matched pretty advanced for his age. but as someone who has been getting more excited by moses and was thinking his matchmaking was coming along, kinda a let down...............balogun has early lay down all over him, no real interesting angle to him

Balogun is a pointless fight.
He's 40+ in age
Semi retired

Yes not quick in terms of overall activity. But he was ment to fight on the Joyce card and got pulled… being back on in this time is decent. Id hate this to be July for example.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑10 Apr 2025, 16:42moses hasnt fought in 6 months by the time of this card, only reason it may feel like a quick on the fly type of fight is because its been announced so close to the date.gregregegg wrote: ↑10 Apr 2025, 16:39 That’s a reasonable opponent for where he is at, throws a bit of heat back, but not very good.

At least he can punch a bit. I don’t think it’s a good opponent, I’ll be clear on that. But if Moses is planning a bigger fight in August then a keep busy now is not bad.

One round, two rounds, tops.
Poor, poor fight. A fish-eyes special.

I note Trey Lippe hadn't fought since. Cue the commentators hyping Balogan.

All aboard..... choo choo!!!!

Frank probably needs Turki to believe too. Getting top opponents is going to be very expensive.

If his career is like a rev counter, tonight's fight wouldn't even register.
Re: Will Moses Itauma be the best ever British heavyweight?
True enough. All the big names are point blank saying no or asking for fortunes. Getting opponents to fight him will be more difficult than the fights.keithmoonhangover wrote: ↑24 May 2025, 15:42 If his career is like a rev counter, tonight's fight wouldn't even register.

Moses has now missed beating Tyson’s youngest HW champ record
Re: Will Moses Itauma be the best ever British heavyweight?
It's gonna be hard for anybody to beat that record I think just because it's gonna be hard for anyone in this day and age to match Mike's early schedule. I don't think you could build up a prospect that quickly with that many fights in such short order even if you wanted to.Controversial wrote: ↑24 May 2025, 15:59 Moses has now missed beating Tyson’s youngest HW champ record
