No, but they want him out "7 or 8 times a year". He's a long term prospect. No bullshit about Tysons record, etc. He's nowhere near fully developed I'm my opinion.

Enjoy the journey Mick.

It’s great to closely follow an amateur and see them turn pro.

I’m looking forward to his debut.
I will. It'll probably give me an excuse to get to some big venues abroad I haven't been to.

Dave Allen did a good video on his sparring with Leo yesterday. Gives an accurate picture of where he is.

ADAM MACA SET TO SIGN WITH MATCHROOM, WILL MAKE SUMMER DEBUT AT MSG ON HITCHINS-KAMBOSOS CARD

Highly-touted amateur prospect Adam Maca is set to sign a promotional deal with Matchroom Boxing after making the decision to turn professional, The Ring can reveal.

Maca, 17, made his name in the unpaid ranks by becoming a two-time Junior European champion and a five-time national champion. At world level, he picked up a silver medal while representing Albania, where he was born.

Earlier this year, Maca signed a management deal with Sam Jones, who said: "This kid is a superstar, a freak of nature."

It's also understood that Maca, who now lives in Brighton, will make his debut on June 14 at The Theater at Madison Square Garden, where Richardson Hitchins will defend his IBF junior-welterweight title in the main event against George Kambosos Jr.

Eddie Hearn recently told The Ring: "We're trying [to sign Maca]. I've said before, there's three of them - Leo Atang, Adam Maca and a girl called Tiah Ayton.

"They're all sensational, they're very young, it's quite unique that you get fighters that young who are actually looking to turn pro now.

"We've got Leo, we're hopeful on Adam, and I think we're in a great position with Tiah."

And it now looks like Hearn has nabbed at least two of those three teenage starlets.

Matchroom signed 18-year-old Atang, who Hearn believes can be Britain's next superstar heavyweight, last month.

Atang will make his debut this summer, potentially on a card in Manchester.

Leo and Maca are better signings than the Paris Olympians. They are practically inseparable now even though they live on opposite sides of the country.

They should return much better value for money and give more potential given their age.

It got to a point where Olympians were apparently getting big signing bonuses and high guarantees which given the age of some of them, like Frazer Clarke and Cheavon Clarke, was unlikely to be worthwhile.

Frank has played it well in recent years focusing on the young pros and getting lots of them in the hope of a few of them making top pros. They were even sponsoring Itauma when he was a kid to get an in with him.

That was the plan with Leo but through Matchroom. Eddie has obviously taken notice of what Frank did.

Maca has got a lot of press about going pro tonight , even made the BBC top sport headlines.
I'm guessing he's got a good social media following as well.

How'd he look? I saw the clips of the stoppage. Maybe he was just overexcited when putting on the pressure at the end, but he had his chin hanging out and was winging those punches in. Didn't look particularly measured.
Very fast, though.

Fair enough - I haven't seen any of his am fights, I don't follow ams, really... Thought I'd try and catch this one with the BBC reporting that he 'plans to be undisputed champion by the time he's 25'.
With plans like that, I was surprised by the style. Looks like he could be a lot of fun, though.

ya, he is a lot of fun. everytime ive seen him ams and in his pro he's coming forward throwing bombs. seems physically very strong for his size. but perhaps not as refined as you might expect from his am achievements and background though. tbf, others here have seen a lot more of him than i have

When these young prospects get signed does anyone know what kind of contracts they often go in for... I know its varied but what would the standard be for a 18/19 year old prospect?

I'm sure it's complicated with options ect ect, but it seems hard to sign someone so speculatively.

This isn't specific o maca, I was actually wondering the same with Moses (the USA one that just fought), or omari Jones... ect ect.

Well it was Maca's debut so always going to be a bit of a rushed showing trying to impress.
Saying that though , I think there's lots of work to do there. Head up high , right hand slow to get back , footwork needs tightening.

He always throws bombs. His catchphrase is maximum violence. He can box and has great skills but chooses to fight when he can. His fight against Leighton Birchalll in the youth final last year was top quality. Also when he out classed Paul Smith jr jr. Mags watched him against the p4p no1 youth am in the world so he looked a little more rugged than usual then but still came out swinging. He is 100% dedicated to the game. Him and Atang made friends on the England team and have been inseparable since. They both stayed at each other's houses during school holidays and trained together visiting gyms all over the place.

Seems like a good learning experience. The opponent wasn’t in there to lay down and a big stage for a first fight.

Refreshing to watch a fight like that without the British commentators hyping everything up and smothering every minute of the fight.
