1980 to today

Post by Ezzard »

You have to pick one fantasy fight between any two fighters that would serve as the decider for the best of this timespan.

Maybe the fight already happened in real life.

HW -- Holmes v Lewis

LHW -- Spinks v Bivol

MW -- Hagler v Golovkin

WW -- Leonard v Crawford

LW -- Whittaker v Lomachenko

FW -- Sanchez v Pac

Heavyweights for me would be 80s Tyson vs 90s Bowe.

Otherwise those pics are reasonable.

Holmes Lewis
Spinks Jones
Hagler Hopkins
Leonard Mayweather
Pacman Whittaker
Sanchez Loma

I'll admit Pacquiao didn't do much at LW but I feel he was a better fighter around that weight and Floyd's best weight was probably 140 (where he could be better matched with Chavez)

- Tubby Lar overlapped with Lewis, yet no way any version beats bigger, stronger Lewie.

Spinks was a very awkward fighter with super boxing skills and power is too much for the highly respected Bivol who lacks the power of Spinks.

Marv one of my favs sadly would be overwhelmed by the much bigger, stronger, relentless iron chinned Golovkin.

Craw a formidable fighter now, but no prime Duran, so Ray would just out juke him to cruise to a reasonable decision.

Loma makes the clownish Pea quit in humiliation, terrible match up for boxing and Pea.

Pac was greatly starved at feather and thus didn't stay long, so I'd say with Sal being one of the tip top skilled boxing generals fighters ever survives a couple KDs for a split decision where Pac wins the rematch.

interesting matches... :TU:

I'm with you on all these picks... except for Bivol. I think they are 50-50.

I always like differing but reasonable views. I don't see Bowe as the number 1 or 2. I don't see Tyson either but I understand that pick much more.

But top fighters for sure.
