For all the hammer he gets Ben Shalom has had a fantastic couple of weeks.
Whittaker & Clarke both back in the ring looking good & then tonight CBS won clearly in a fight many expected him to lose.
Riley also beat Clarke & I think he’s got a connection to Aaron McKenna too.
Obviously Eubank winning as well.

I think some are being a bit harsh to be honest.
It was a good fight, it was competitive and had some back and forth rallies, both of them got hit flush plenty of times and for me it was up in the air going into 11 and 12.
Both of them came to fight, there was no running and excessive holding or anything else to tarnish the bout, plenty of decent boxing ability, jabs, hooks body shots and they weren't holding back.
The pace was steady throughout with very few lulls or dull moments.
It exceeded my expectations and if they don't put things on a long pause I'd be up for a rematch.

He”ll maybe go back and challenge Chris Jenkins now..gregregegg wrote: ↑26 Apr 2025, 18:48 That dark haired gnome on talk sports (forget his name) was calling for a Connor been title shot at 147 next…. How? Surely benn dosent have a 147 ranking even…
He has never beat a contender at 147… last time he made 147 was over 3 years ago. He has since failed a drug test (guess wbc gave him a pass on that)… and he has lost his last fight..

It was a really decent match for the reasons mentioned (Eubank decline, Benn being very fit and tough) but it was a low standard of boxing given the pay and scale of the event. It would only happen in the UK, no other nation of people is so sentimental and gullible. You see really decent matches on most amateur shows when lads are fighting for a trophy. I think cynical people are right to judge it tough but I do understand and accept the economics and I think those who wanted to see a half decent tear up will feel like they got value for money. It was good fight.Evander wrote: ↑26 Apr 2025, 19:18 I think some are being a bit harsh to be honest.

i can easily see a rematch of course, but part of me feels eubank would be happy to never let benn get the chance for revenge. he could troll him with it forever

It was a good scrap. Nothing at a higher level than a decent British title fight, but enjoyable all the sameJimmy2025 wrote: ↑26 Apr 2025, 19:25It was a really decent match for the reasons mentioned (Eubank decline, Benn being very fit and tough) but it was a low standard of boxing given the pay and scale of the event. Eubank would be silly to have a rematch, just leave it as a win and retirement awaits.
As for Benn, they can carefully keep matching him to win and people will want to see him lose so he is worthwhile investing in.
Re: Round-by-Round: Chris Eubank Jr. vs. Conor Benn | PPV - 26 April 2025
There's so much hype around fights like this it's hard to take some of the paydays rumoured seriously, I genuinely don't know what they were earning.
The numbers I have seen, yes I'd agree with you.
However, if British Boxing can pull that kind of money then it's something to be proud of for our domestic game.
Not like British Boxing hasn't earned it considering the work it's put in over history.

We can all agree that it was an egg-citing fight.
No rematch, though. Jnr looked rough in there, tonight.

I really don’t like it when the weight is everything in a fight… if eubank and benn boxed, at a weight of there choice, no weight cut, eubank would win easily… because he is better and bigger… 360 days of the year this fight wouldent be close… it’s just during and after crippling himself with a weight cut it is interesting.
Basically anything 159lb or kess benn would win cause eubank is crippled. It’s a fair fight at 160 cause eubank is justtt wounded enough. And anything over 162 eubank would win cause he is bigger and better.
So the real fight isn’t in the ring, it’s the promoters picking a weight…
Benn should fight Harlem eubank at 147… it’s their actual weight, it’s still got a bit of the name interest, and it’s a good close fight.

Weights were always going to be an issue but we knew that coming in, however it did play a role in the outcome.gregregegg wrote: ↑26 Apr 2025, 19:49 I really don’t like it when the weight is everything in a fight… if eubank and benn boxed, at a weight of there choice, no weight cut, eubank would win easily… because he is better and bigger… 360 days of the year this fight wouldent be close… it’s just during and after crippling himself with a weight cut it is interesting.

Connor Benn v Harlem Eubank, don't count anything out it may well happen.

Not without Superdrug.
Big credit to both for what turned into a b-level classic in the closing rounds, but for different reasons they both ended up taking damage that could be lifechanging down the road. I'd definitely be against a rematch. I don't think Benn will ever top that performance, surpassing many expectations to hear the bell against the tide.
Eubank was likewise exhausted, a victim of his own drained body as much as its output on Benn. A rematch isn't healthy for either and could surely never top this for spectacle. They've done extremely well financially and I hope that's it. No need to prolong the animosity out of tradition.
Re: Round-by-Round: Chris Eubank Jr. vs. Conor Benn | PPV - 26 April 2025
It was a shadow of what he used to be.
The world class Eubank Jr that fought George Groves would have plastered Benn all around the ring. Tonight's performance was just enough to win a sort of British level fight.

It's just a bit of boxing snobbery mate. Joke fight, not for a title, overpaid celebrity fighters cashing in, not a high enough level etc etc
I get all that, but I thought it was a superb fight and had everything that I love about boxing, guts, heart, passion, excitement and massive desire to win. They both fought to the last drop in my opinion and short changed nobody.
Having watched their fathers fight all those years ago and now watching this was a quite surreal
I'll admit to having a slight lump in the throat when Dre kicked in, father and son walking towards the ring together. Happy for Junior .

Woke up on the couch with crusty eyes and a hangover. I’ve got a few observations and they’re certainly not very deep at that.
I’m annoyed that the fight was a great scrap to watch, especially cos it didn’t showcase any great amount of skill or athleticism. But I’m glad I got to see it cos it was a proper brawl towards the end.
Connor Benn has a chin! Eubank was cool under pressure. I think they actually do hate eachother, at the very least Connor is projecting all his problem onto Chris.
These lucky lucky bastardos have smashed it, millions in cash for a British level fight that turned into a schoolyard scrap, but they both put both of their respective bollocks on the table last night and I loved it. They’ve got away with it
I’m ashamed to say it, but I’d be first in the queue for a rematch

It's difficult for purists in all disciplines sometimes. There are truly great musicians who haven't got a pot to piss in and those people who listen to and appreciate them often can't get their heads around why some of the commercial stuff that is theoretically crap has so much success.forcefraser wrote: ↑27 Apr 2025, 02:47Evander wrote: ↑26 Apr 2025, 19:18 I think some are being a bit harsh to be honest.

Commercial success and being the best often have very little correlation.
The saying Ignorance is bliss is true. Those who simply enjoy a scrap got value last night.
