A terrific main event that was far better than I was expecting.

Credit to both boxers. Eubank’s engine in those final 2 rounds was insane. I had him winning 116-112.

Not sure how anyone can have Benn winning or a draw. Eddie was clutching with that one.

I think Eubank has played this whole build up perfectly.

It makes me think the stuff with his dad was a swerve this whole time. All Senior’s interviews pushed the fight and it generated sports headlines when he turned up last night. Whilst it’s clever it means Junior could have really played up to it for sympathy in recent weeks/months.

I’ve seen a load on social about how poor it is that they’ve made Eubank come down in weight for the fight. Again getting more sympathy/support.

Fair play to him for doing it. Genuinely reminds me of pro wrestling.

He looks baddd making the weight. I can’t think of many that look much worse making weight in boxing. Then not being allowed to rehydrate properly adds to it as a factor.

He has obviously been a true 160 most of his career, but like many aging fighters the weight cut becomes very very tough and then they normally move up…

Now, he obviously recovered well enough to win, but I feel like cutting 10-15% of you body weight is , then having a prolonged period of dehydration always going to have a big impact on fighters, especially mid 30s plus.

It’s probably the equivalent of fighting very hungover… you can still win, but it’s wellll sub optimum.

Was Conor wearing a Jim'll Fix It badge at the post fight press conference?

It's not overblown at all. He's old now. He can still make the weight but that doesn't mean he can be strong and effective at the weight anymore. 35 is ancient for a fighter who boils down. You won't find me a single example of a fighter in the entire history of boxing who was tight at the weight and not on a steep decline after the age of 35 that I don't believe was juicing.

it's a weight he's succeeded at for years and campaigned at for the last 6. stamina, punch resistance were completely fine, none of the stuff about him being dead at the weight was born out, no surprise to me. he actually ended far stronger than benn,

even when he doesnt have to make 160 for stay busy fights he's been coming in barely over, 164, 161, etc. why so light for such an apparently giant mw? i dont get this idea that he must be some zombie trying to cut to middle

Hopkins did well to still be middleweight champ entering his 40s.

There was nothing in Eubank's punches tho , that was the most telling factor of the weight struggle.

I wouldn’t say Benn had much pop in his shots either. Be happy to see Eubanks retire and Benn get embarrassed at 147 going forward..

Definitely but he was wily, understood when to move up and managed his decline intelligently. Very bright man.

His Eggcellency Conor Benn is enjoying a redemption now.

He's shown that he's better than area level, although I'm not exactly sure where he sits.

He's also shown a lot class post fight.

Perfect scenario.
Eubank got out on a relative high with a few quid and Benn get found out quite quickly in his own weight division.

Benns boxing skill is limited. He can be quite eratic and lunge in with shots which unbalances him. He has very limited punch power and he wouldn't knock out a decent seasoned boxer.

If Eubank had had some power in there it would have ended early. I think the weight, and the clauses helped Benn, you could see the size difference once uncloaked. Eubank for me tried to stay composed and not waste what energy he had, Benn on the other hand must have drunk 2l of Irnbru and a couple of bags of Skittles before the fight because he was like a kid with ADHD. He couldn't compose himself and maybe that plan didn't help him, however, I don't think he had the power to know out Jr.

The standard of boxing last night wasn't text book, however I think the text book went out of the window purely for rivalry rights. Benn can beat Eubank but not with that style. If a rematch which I hope doesn't happen, it will be a different fight. Jr will have aged physically from that whole period, his body won't fully recover from what he had to go through, and mentally would Chris want to struggle for another 3 months training if there were clauses again.

Eubank was drinking as much as he could before the first bell, that shows his body was craving fluids. He wasn't 100% in there, he did look drained ring walk, my wife said he looked like he was going to cry.

Anyway, glad that's over, 12 entertaining rounds, limited skill in there and fair play to both.

We had a faded boxer against a young lad with a lot o E numbers in his veins.

That's a first class analysis.

I hope they don't try and do this again, but money talks and it also pays the bills.

Hopefully Junior has enough money to walk away and if they want to push the Benn/Eubank saga a bit more, maybe bring Harlem Eubank into the equation.

It's not quite the same, but Harlem does have the name and the DNA.

Jr can walk away and dine out on this, but I fear a rematch might be too much.
This fight felt like the last gasp of what has been a long career for a middle weight. Those guys are generally done and dusted earlier.
It was perfect timing to make a way more exciting fight than it could have been.

Benn reminded me of KSI’s “boxing”

Just throwing shit and lunging where he can.

I noticed CEJ was still gasping for a drink after the fight too.

Eubank will never win a genuine world title. His time is over now. It's a shame really that he never got the chances, or may have but declined them.

He was never really a top class performer but a decent level nevertheless. Sons cannot always be better than their dads.

Benn on the other hand has blagged his was through his career. Never fought anyone of note and if anything a fading Eubank was most likely his pinnacle fight.

I'm sure he will get his arse kicked if he decides to try a world title fight and not an IBO or something plastic as that. A genuine title holder may fancy a bit of cash and a commission such as IBF will put him in at number 1.

I want to see that day he gets a good schooling. It will happen.

That was probably his best shot too. Surely Eubank Jr. wouldn't give him a rematch at 160 pounds. The weight definitely had him weaker than he should've been it looked like, but he got through it anyhow. If the fight is at 168 next time, Eubank makes it look a lot easier, and I think he'd be a fool to sign a contract allowing it to be anything but a 168 pound fight.

You don't give your opponent any advantages.

i cant believe Eubanks lot didnt tell Benns lot to go F themselves with the weight and rehydration clause.

How can it be right the one who popped gets rehydration clauses and 18ft rings, if they do fight again, which i dont think they should, Chris shouldlnt make 160 again and they need to tell Benn we arent jumping up and down for you again

Benn gets annihilated without Jnr boiling down, obviously

Apparently the rematch is already signed? Unless it says IF Eubank wins when this or if Conor wins then this.

God knows.

But the fact that he was made to drain and had clauses in the fight is what made it competitive.

Had there not been any rehydration clauses, it wouldn’t have been close.

That's exactly my point. Now that he's given him those concessions, and he still couldn't get it done. Eubank as the winner should be at least able to control that much about the rematch.
