Can you elaborate please?
Re: Is Connor Benn of The Naughty Step?
I'm guessing are folk now happy to overlook the eggs, or not.....
Re: Is Connor Benn off The Naughty Step?
Once a cheater always a cheater imo. The public are fickle and those casuals who saw him for the first time last night will love him.
He's a big headed cocky little shit. His day hasn't come yet.

Re: Is Connor Benn off The Naughty Step?
Last night flattered Benn he is bang average. Very tough but can’t punch and still very novice like lunging in with wild shots. Eubank was there for the taking last night
Re: Is Connor Benn off The Naughty Step?
He has never been on the naughty step for me. Competitive sport is and always has been riddled with dodges, cheating and capering. The idea it's ever been pure is idealistic nonsense.
Don't get involved in the first place if you want things to be fair and above board is my advice.
Get your contracts in order. Fighters who don't want their opponents to be on PEDs need to insist on testing and significant penalties paid directly to them for failures (strict liability, payment within 7 days of A sample failure), . I'd also want full disclosure of TUEs and penalties for not adhering to that requirement properly.

Re: Is Connor Benn of The Naughty Step?
For me it wasn’t just the drug fail.. it’s how he and his team handled it. Guys like Bellew as well jumping in.. the 158 limit, just how everything unfolded.. and 2 years of the same shit. WBC crap, these long letters which we don’t know are true. A lot of credibility was lost.
Even before all that, I was never very fond of Benn anyway. No reason to hate him.
Even now, after this. Benn didn’t make excuses, other than he sat on the ropes too much and he said inactivity. But Hearn calling him the people champion? GTFOH!

Re: Is Connor Benn off The Naughty Step?
Benn deserves grief for the remainder of his career and then some but there's never the same energy for Fury, Canelo or even Khan, think Whyte maybe only other juicer to get slaughtered constantly
Re: Is Connor Benn off The Naughty Step?
Because those guys were actually liked beforehand by people. Your struggle to find someone who previously disliked them who suddenly liked them after testing positivehandsofstone wrote: ↑27 Apr 2025, 10:00 Benn deserves grief for the remainder of his career and then some but there's never the same energy for Fury, Canelo or even Khan, think Whyte maybe only other juicer to get slaughtered constantly

Over the years… maybe he was always like this, but he’s a horrible person haha
Re: Is Connor Benn off The Naughty Step?
I've seen a few things with him where he comes across as quite a decent bloke, I think he has very much chosen his dislikeable public persona.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑27 Apr 2025, 10:43 Over the years… maybe he was always like this, but he’s a horrible person haha

Is he partially forgiven? Do you respect him more?
Re: Is Connor Benn off The Naughty Step?
I voted Yes because, as far as the general public are concerned, he's now one of the biggest names in UK Boxing.
Personally, I try not to get too involved when it comes to drugs & sport. Let the authorities deal with it, or not.
I like Conor & Junior - just as I liked both their dads 30+ years ago when I used to go to watch them both.
I remember watching a video years ago where Barry Hearn talks about how he built up snooker to go from a dreary sport to the most watched events in the country. He developed each players persona to where the public were REALLY invested in liking or disliking them. This one was the villain, this one the maverick, this one the cool, calculating player, another the bad boy who people liked, etc etc. Basic stuff but it worked. I remember, as a teen, being glued to the telly for snooker finals.
He, & Eddie, took this to darts & boxing. It's a formula that works very well & makes them all a lot of money. And fair play to them. Because even if people dislike Conor - or Junior - they're still turning out & tuning in.

Re: Is Connor Benn off The Naughty Step?
I'm bemused?
"The Panel concluded that it was 'not comfortably satisfied' that UKAD had proved that Mr Benn had committed an Anti-Doping Rule Violation for the Use of clomifene. The provisional suspension previously in place has been lifted and the charge against him has been consequently dismissed.'
Both UKAD and the BBBofC declined their right to appeal the decision.
On that basis I doubt there's anyone out there, or on here that would put their house up to support their statements that Benn is a cheat.

Re: Is Connor Benn off The Naughty Step?
Of course they wouldn't when there's a good chance Turki (Saudi National Wealth Fund) is going to be bankrolling the opposition - and why wouldn't they if they wanted to, that's how the system is set up? When the money comes out, the talking stops! and rights and wrongs go out the window (head first). Conor isn't the first and he certainly isn't the worst. None of us knows the details of what he did or didn't do. Best to just enjoy the boxing.Tarquin Tarpaulin IV wrote: ↑27 Apr 2025, 11:05 I'm bemused?

He's at the same level as Campbell hatton achievement wise. At least hatton boxed for an area belt

In reality he's boxed a much higher standard than Campbell.Southy1922 wrote: ↑27 Apr 2025, 11:22He's at the same level as Campbell hatton achievement wise. At least hatton boxed for an area belt

I don't get how anyone could doubt him now.
Even when it was cancelled first time around, Eubank was quite happy to participate in the multi million pound fight

Well no one seems to care about Roy Jones failing a test or Evan Fields do they?joshj909 wrote: ↑27 Apr 2025, 09:17Why would him losing a fight last night mean we can overlook him for being a drug cheat? Especially in the matchup he was caught using PEDs prior to...
Nothing has changed in his awful attitude either.
Re: Is Connor Benn off The Naughty Step?
He done well to try and come across humble after the bout but we all know what hes really like
He had no choice but to come off like that
I take my hat off to him, he tried to win the fight off his hatred for Jnr, but hes still an arrogant lemon

What's this talk of Conor Benn being a drug cheat? I assume he did some PED's or something?Coco wrote: ↑27 Apr 2025, 10:55I've seen a few things with him where he comes across as quite a decent bloke, I think he has very much chosen his dislikeable public persona.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑27 Apr 2025, 10:43 Over the years… maybe he was always like this, but he’s a horrible person haha

If that's the worst he did he's doing nothing wrong in my opinion.
You think Eubank Jr. didn't take some sorta substance to be able to make 160 pounds? You think your favorite fighter doesn't take something when he fights? You think you wouldn't take something if you yourself were an athlete?
Can't judge people for breaking a rule everyone else breaks. He just didn't break it as well, and got caught.
