Olympic bronze medallist Lewis Richardson signs for Queensberry Promotions
Team Great Britain’s bronze medallist at the 2024 Paris Olympics Lewis Richardson has signed for Frank Warrrren’s Queensberry Promotions.
The 27-year-old Essex southpaw was defeated by Mexico’s junior middleweight Marco Verde in the semi-finals in France, having defeated Serbian Vakhid Abbasov and Jordan’s Zeyad Eashash to progress.
Declaring the signing on social media, Warren said via X: “Absolutely delighted to announce that Lewis has signed to Queensberry. We expect big things from a top talent.”
It became clear Richardson had made a decision on his future earlier in this week, when GB Boxing announced: “Everyone at GB Boxing would like to wish Lewis Richardson the very best in the next step in his career following his release from the World Class Programme (WCP). We thank you for your commitment to the WCP since joining us back in January 2018.”
They listed Richardson’s amateur achievements, which included a silver at the 2022 European Championships and bronze at the 2022 Commonwealth Games.
Warren is an International Boxing Hall of Fame promoter who has worked with countless Olympians over the years, including Robin Reid, Billy Joe Saunders, and James DeGale, although this marks his first landmark Olympic signing since DeGale in 2008.
