What experience do any of them have?

What’s the qualification to become a mayor?

Can't wait for the inevitable far right dynasty up north with rampant fraud and theft and cuts to essential services. Like when brexit was fresh and covid fraud times the establishment properganda is superb. I'm suppose to be a Labour voter this Labour Party is awful. Whatever happens Luke Campbell in Hull will never be seen the same again but he won't care he on the grifters train.

How about running a multi million pound budget ? Running local services, there is some serious stuff involved in the job

What a joke, we can all have an opinion on politics but being thrust into decision making when you have zero clue how anything works in the political world is another level.

Let’s face it no political party really makes any huge difference to society, making significant change is like expecting a huge cruise liner to turn at the same speed as a Ferrari. Too many hoops, processes, contracts in place etc etc that nothing really changes, we are ultimately at the mercy of big corporations and banks. People vote on who says what they want to hear.

It was a very clever move by Reform as Campbell is loved in Hull.

I’m just surprised as Campbell never seemed the type to have an interest in politics. I don’t think I’ve ever seen him share anything controversial or political in all the time I’ve followed him (probably around 2012) until a month ago.

Exactly. Either a protest vote or a populist vote. All the parties promise so much yet rarely deliver (or what they deliver is reversed when the next party gets in) but people fall for the tough talk every time lol

Who would have thought Labour and the Tories treating their respective bases with contempt for decades would result in people voting for other parties?

Reform and Lib Dem are flawed but they are more representative of the right & left than these two irrelevant parties that need to die.

Congratulations are in order. Campbell must be feeling on top of the world :D

The people who voted for him obviously hope Luke can make some positive changes for the benefit of Hull. Good luck to the guy.

And Campbell is clearly stating that he isn't a politician, he just wants to help the people of Hull

he is a politician now. and he'll have all sorts of political decisions to make, political relationships to build and maintain, etc.

sure he hasnt spent a lifetime in politics, but he's only 37,and being mayor already he;'s off to a fairly fast start.

campbell is now the elected mayor of hull, officially representing a political party. he will be surrounded by plenty of people soon, if not already. you think he will just be a 1 man show going around saving babies all on his own or something? he is certainly a politician, the fact that he's new to it doesn't change it, every politican starts somewhere

if he didnt want to be a politician there were many other paths to take, presumably no one held a gun to his head to force him to join reform and run as mayor

Sad that centre right lib dems Labour are now seen as left but a brillant job by the establishment all works like a well oiled machine like platforming farage so many times on the supposed left wing bbc. Thatcher said in better words her greatest achievement was turning Labour into a centrist to now it's even a centre right party
