Cheers, John. Phil Matthews was a colossal waste of talent. A natural puncher, he destroyed the world class Tom "The Bomb" Bethea to secure a shot at Bunny Sterling for the British middleweight title but didn't believe in himself on the night and Sterling won as he pleased in five rounds.
