British MW title fight this weekend

The British MW title is up for grabs this weekend on the Fisher Allen undercard with Kieron Conway facing off against Gerome Warburton for the vacant title.

This fight has gone completely under the radar with little to no mention from the promoters, press or broadcasters.

Is it a sign of the times / current culture in boxing that the Brit MW title isn’t as big a deal? Or down to lack of quality competing for it?

Definitely a sign of the times. I'd say Conway by decision after a cursory glance at Warburtons boxrec and knowing Conway is a decision merchant.

The MW division isn't that inspiring at the moment, either domestically in the UK or world for that matter.
I'm definitely watching the fight, it should be okay.
But let's be honest, the bar has been raised pretty high in the past. It would take something special to happen on the weekend for this to be anything more than it is at face value.

Yeah you’re not wrong.. I didn’t even know there was a British middleweight fight on this card. I’ve barely heard of these two tbh. Neither appears to have a huge punch, and without the big personality or the dynamic knock out ability, you’re gonna be going under the radar. Like others have mentioned I wasn’t even aware Denzel had vacated the British title.

He’s not been out since December when he won the European, I don’t think that’s by choice, just hasn’t got a date yet.

Denzel likes to stay busy, like most fighters, so won’t be thrilled at six months out of the ring

I remember back in 2012 when Freddie Flintoff fought that Yank over four twos, which was headlining on Sky, while the British Heavyweight title fight between David Price and Matt Skelton was on some lads channel or something.

Could have been a case of Frank/Kellie Maloney being greedy and putting on a shit card, but I saw this as the start of misfits. Flintoff is the original Jake Paul. If ever i thought a fight was fixed, it was this (and we know McGuigan is capable of shenanigans). The Yank went on to beat none other than Dakota Beaver in his next fight.

It was, but it was filmed for Sky as part of a documentary series following Flintoff and given a Contender style edit and looked like Hagler v Hearns in the final episode.
