Identify The Best Attribute Of These Fighters...

Post by Goodnight, Irene »

Just one attribute which was their best, above all other qualities, in your view...

Eusebio Pedroza

Muhammad Ali

Oscar De La Hoya

Sandy Saddler

Joel Casamayor

Felix Trinidad

Shane Mosley

Gene Tunney

Pernell Whitaker

Sal Sanchez

Alexis Arguello

Roberto Duran

Ray Robinson

Julio Cesar Chavez

We'll say how consistent the responses are...

I think the only fair way to do this is to write down the first thing you think of.

Eusebio Pedroza - workrate

Muhammad Ali – desire

Oscar De La Hoya – confidence

Sandy Saddler - power

Joel Casamayor - patience

Felix Trinidad - power

Shane Mosley – combination punching (think of him @ 135)

Gene Tunney – foot movement

Pernell Whitaker – reflexes

Sal Sanchez – counter punching

Alexis Arguello - durability

Roberto Duran – body punching

Ray Robinson - coordination

Julio Cesar Chavez - stamina

That wasn’t easy.

Such is the idea. Given all of these men had several outstanding attributes, I thought we could get a good cross-section of points, as people opted for differing qualities.

Tunney and footwork is spot on though...

You covered this topic beautifully. After reading, I felt motivated to try a color blind test
, and now I understand my vision a lot better.

first thing that came to my mind regarding Muhammad Ali,
was the ability to take a punch.
I'm not old enough to remember when he won the HW Championship in 1964.
But I do remember when he came back in early 1970's to fight Oscar Bonavena, Frazier and Foreman,
Ron Lyle ,Earnie Shavers and other big punchers.

one name not listed was Benny Leonard,
and for him it would be "Ability to Think" in the ring.
