Where is Frank Wärrěņ??
Re: Round-by-Round: Josh Taylor vs. Ekow Essuman | DAZN - 24 May 2025
Nah, Taylor stunned Ekow in the 4th, then he turned it around on Taylor. Taylor still has pop. He just can't quite time it anymore, sadly.

As good as he was (and he excelled), despite being a fellow Scotsman, I’ve never taken to Taylor at all.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑24 May 2025, 17:32 Ha!!
Josh Taylor has left the building.
Why’s he being sour grapes.

Ruing the day he signed Taylor?

Why is the daft interviewer repeatedly pushing the idea of a world title shot ffs
Credit to Ekow, good win tonight and he's obviously a dedicated lad but beating the ghost of Josh Taylor doesn't put him anywhere near world level

Re: Round-by-Round: Josh Taylor vs. Ekow Essuman | DAZN - 24 May 2025
Apparently Josh said (roughly) "Yes Essuman - I need someone of a solid proven level - who'll bring it so I know what's left"
The answer is what we saw there...
Quite a lot - still got lovely skills and could win all kinds of PrizeFighters and Celtic titles, but..
He's done as an elite 12 rounder.

Ekow calling out Brian Norman !CaptainSpacerod wrote: ↑24 May 2025, 17:36 Why is the daft interviewer repeatedly pushing the idea of a world title shot ffs

I think we'd all love him to win that, but kinda fear for him...

I'm sure you guys watched Essuman's British title fights?
A few years back he would have thrown 20% more, he was a machine.
I thought before the fight he might outwork Taylor, but with smaller guys in their mid 30's you just never know, fight by fight.

He often doesn't go nowadays if it's too far out of London.

Absolutely, he's not going to piss around with stuff like that though .skanksta wrote: ↑24 May 2025, 17:38 Apparently Josh said (roughly) "Yes Essuman - I need someone of a solid proven level - who'll bring it so I know what's left"

Taylor was just lucky to get an undisputed fight against a limited guy like Prograis. He's on a four fight losing run now if that first Catterall fight was scored fairly. He deserves credit for being the man at 140 but he was very overrated.

Is this the “Worst run since undisputed” ever… surely.
May 2021 Taylor wins undisputed… so 4 years ago. Since then he has (well should have) lost all 4 of his fights.

"He's cleaned up domestically " says bonkers Darren Barker of Essuuman
A good fight would be to face the winner of Catterall v Eubank

A strange unwanted trophy, but he must be !gregregegg wrote: ↑24 May 2025, 17:44 Is this the “Worst run since undisputed” ever… surely.

UNDISPUTED is incredible - fortunate or not - and then lost 4 in a row.

Great win for Essuman. Hope it opens a few doors for him. Another big win and who knows.
Not sure what's next for Taylor. Josh was always destined to be a world champion and compete on the big stage. This defeat will be hard to swallow.

Taylor has lost 3 in a row (and there should be a 4th in a row on that record)… honestly I think he needs to step way down, wayy down to like English levle and just spark out 3 over matched punters and get back in the wins.
Good win for esserman but he has been poor lately too, would be a good fight for Benn but probably not considered a big enough name..
Can’t see either being a meaningfull player on world level welterweight boxing though.

It’s a quality demise rivaling only Julius indongo (he was just unified not undisputed)…skanksta wrote: ↑24 May 2025, 17:49A strange unwanted trophy, but he must be !gregregegg wrote: ↑24 May 2025, 17:44 Is this the “Worst run since undisputed” ever… surely.

With a few wins under his belt at a lower level as you say. It's not crazy to think Taylor could beat a guy like Mario Barrios maybe.gregregegg wrote: ↑24 May 2025, 17:51 Taylor has lost 3 in a row (and there should be a 4th in a row on that record)… honestly I think he needs to step way down, wayy down to like English levle and just spark out 3 over matched punters and get back in the wins.

The guys below LHW can absolutely fall off a cliff with age overnight. Very few have anything much left after their early 30's.skanksta wrote: ↑24 May 2025, 17:49A strange unwanted trophy, but he must be !gregregegg wrote: ↑24 May 2025, 17:44 Is this the “Worst run since undisputed” ever… surely.

Yeah. Age definitely catches up to fighters faster at the smaller weight classes. The more crucial speed is to their fighting style. The more quickly aging catches up to them.KiwiRider wrote: ↑24 May 2025, 17:56The guys below LHW can absolutely fall off a cliff with age overnight. I think he was just a bit more measured, wary of waht's coming back etc.
Don't think output really goes down @ 36 (from like 39-33 anyway) if you live the life as he clearly does.

Lee McGregor looked shot as a 28 y/o FW tonight.
Big guys it's much more about strength and toughness, little men speed and energy.
Re: Round-by-Round: Josh Taylor vs. Ekow Essuman | DAZN - 24 May 2025
Arguably Taylor's prime was when he fought Prograis in that absolute war back when Josh was 29. He hasn't performed like that since.skanksta wrote: ↑24 May 2025, 18:28Defo.
