Heavyweights: Big John Tate vs David Tua

Post by elmersalsa »

I see Big John Tate giving some excellent combinations early going. Tua was a slow starter but had a wallop punch. Tate was much more skilled. He was also taller like 6'4" for Tate to 5'10" for Tua. In weight, they were about the same. Probably, Tua was heavier.

I think that behind on points, Tua stops Tate in round 10.

Your comments.

Tate outboxes Tua for 9 rounds and in the 10th Tua lands his first shot and knocks Tate out cold.

If the Big John Tate who shows up against Knoetze and Coetzee would outbox Tua behind his long left jabs, right hands and combinations on the outside to take a decision without trying to engage him on the inside too much. If the Big John Tate who fought Mike Weaver and Trevor Berbick, Tua would get outbox early, but he comeback with body punches to wear Tate down off the ropes and knocking him out with a big left hook in the late rounds.

I would have Tua winning this fight most probably by KO , inside 6 rounds, Tua Was a very dynamic puncher with good speed and pop, and he could take a shot as well.

I'll join in with the opinion that Tua would win with a come from behind KO late in the fight.

It could be possible that we're selling Tate a little short here, but it doesn't help that he's most famous for getting knocked out late in a fight he was winning while Tua is well known for winning by KO late in fights he was losing
