There’s another clip showing full count, counted out.
Re: Round-by-Round: Fabio Wardley vs. Justis Huni | DAZN - 7 June 2025
I don't think it was some sort of conspiracy, just someone who was inept and shouldn't work a boxing even again. It's not like boxing isn't brazen enough to show us short counts and blatantly corrupt reffing.
I can't recall ever seeing a boxing even where they cut away from the breathtaking come behind stoppage to show the wheezes of a pensioner in the crowd instead.

Good. Where is it?

End of the day, Wardley took Hunis best, but the Aussie could take what Fabio dishes out.
Boxing ultimately is about the toughest bloke still standing there.

Agreed. If Huni can't win that fight, then perhaps he can't beat Wardley. His power and chin are just too suspect. It's like he needs to fight a perfect fight. At heavyweight you need to be able to take a shot or be able to clinch for dear life like Wladimir Klitchko.

I was listening to Curtis Woodhouse the other day, he was saying, imagine being that bloke who fancied giving White Collar a go for a laugh and the guy you fight was Wardley

This win has moved Fabio into the world top #5 just behind Parker on Boxrec.
Gives an indication of how the division is stacked. Unbeaten helps his cause of course.

Scores were
89-82, 89-82 & 88-84
In favour of Huni.
He needed that KO.

Re: Round-by-Round: Fabio Wardley vs. Justis Huni | DAZN - 7 June 2025
I want to see the count again. Cause I will be pissed if huni was up and they just waved it with no checkup or anything (because you just know if the ASide gets up befor 10 they are getting a “walk towards me, walk left, walk right, gloves up ok go”..
But all that aside… power and chin are super super important. Everyone knew huni is the supirior technician but wardly had more power and a better chin…. Yes huni was more dominant early than most though, but if wardly was gunna win everyone knew it would be from a big shot doing damage.
It’s a very tough break for huni, short notice, putting in the performance of a lifetime and one shot changing it, but I hope he goes back to Aus and resets late in the year.
The people saying wardly has been exposed? How good a boxer did you think he was? Always been a mediocre boxer, always will be, but with a chin and a right hand you can go a long way (see wilder)… he should beat pulev or hunter if that next for wba regular… then what? A vacant WBA super shot? That could be big baby miller again…

Awesome fight. It was a good slugfest in the early rounds then Huni started to really kick Wardley's ass before Wardley gets him with a one shot blast to end it in the 10th.
I really enjoyed this one.
The Albanian Heavyweight to open up the card wasn't bad either. Maybe him and Wardley could fight.

It was a realtime 10, whereas typical boxing counts are 12-13. So favouritism, but within the rules.
There really should be a giant clock that triggers upon touchdown to keep it fair. Like how they have ringside clocks for round time in UFC.

Yeah, I thought it was a quick count as I watched it so timed it and it’s pretty much bang on a real time 10 second count. As you say most are longer and of course it’s a 10 count (not strictly a 10 second count) that the ref uses. Still the right decision IMO, he looked a bit unsteady and Wardley a dangerous finisher would’ve gone for it with half the round left.Grilling Machine wrote: ↑07 Jun 2025, 22:00 It was a realtime 10, whereas typical boxing counts are 12-13. I’m not sure about the clock though, it’s always been you go by the refs count. A downed fighter won’t be looking up at a clock to see how long they are down for, they go by the ref being in their face shouting the count and holding fingers up. Plus the ref initially has to ensure the other fighter goes to a neutral corner. I think an immediate clock counting as soon as someone is dropped would spoilt things.

Cut to Frank so the viewers at home couldnt see the fast count. As soon as Huni started getting up, the corrupt ref waved it off. Blatant corruption. Clearly thinking "oh shit, if this fight continues, the favorite has lost"

Re: Round-by-Round: Fabio Wardley vs. Justis Huni | DAZN - 7 June 2025
firstly, he counted quick compared to normal.... count speed varies, but this was definitely on the faster side. then he went instantly from 9 to wave off... its a 10 count not a 9 count. Huni was up at 9.5 for sure. 1000%.
Also.... as a ref you gotta be quicker at starting the count... I know they get the fighter to the corner and pick up the time keepers count, but normally they pick it up at about 3 or 4... the ref started at a timid 5, but from the time he actually started counting to huni on 6 it was about 3 seconds till he waved it.
Had huni been the A-side, the ref would have counted slightly slower, then taken a 3 second look at him. then told him to walk left, then right, then forwards, then brushed his gloves.... and then continued.
At this point its not even the "inconstancy" of what happens... its the consistency of who (A-side or B-side) it happens too.
Would huni of weathered the storm? we will never know... should he of gotten the opportunity, absolutely.

He does have a gripe here certainly, and considering how well he did throughout the majority of the fight. I wouldn't be opposed to a rematch.gregregegg wrote: ↑07 Jun 2025, 22:51 firstly, he counted quick compared to normal.... count speed varies, but this was definitely on the faster side. then he went instantly from 9 to wave off... its a 10 count not a 9 count. I doubt Wardley's people will want any part of it though
I think I'd leave well enough alone if I were them.

No way Wardley gets a count that quick if he's knocked down.

Great effort from the Aussie, I actually think he showed a very decent chin, tough as hell, then found himself on the end of a perfect punch to end it. But let’s be honest here, he deserved a chance when he got up, and the house ref couldn’t wait to speed through the count, wave it off and give the Hollywood ending that Adam Smith and all the other screaming cheerleaders wanted. Within the rules, but didn’t sit well.
But Fabio, what a heart on the guy, he was getting a hammering there, but never gave up. Wilder next? Why not.
And yeah, it was certainly just an incompetent director who told the cameraman to switch to uncle Frank, taking his cue from Smith, who kept banging on about his bosses ringside
