Hobson and Hattons want no part of Witter

Hatton is trying to 'crack' the States, correct?
I have'nt heard him speak about fighting in the UK for a while now.
Hatton IS a big draw stateside,HBO have the deal with him, because they are creating a fanbase over there, leading to eventual PPV's against Castillo,Cotto,Mayweather(please!!!)etc...

Just what will HBO want with Witter exactly?
Do you think they give a jack about what the British fight fan wants to see?
Do you think HBO were excited after seeing Witter-Corley???

Hatton-Castillo is a FAR bigger fight because Castillo is a much bigger name, and better followed fighter than Witter will ever be.

I would like to see Witter-Hatton beleive me,but I can't see it happening anytime soon.Witter needs to impress the people who can make this fight happen.
And for what it's worth,I guarentee that neither fighter is scared of each other(it really is schoolyard bollox to suggest otherwise)and Hatton stops Witter in a rather dull fight IMO.

One of the problems is Witter boxing on SKY, he's not going to get the same exposure to the fringe boxing fans.

One idea i have is for Witter and Hatton to hype up the fight on the BBC for free, have a bit of banter on the Sports personality award show, couple of insults flying around wouldn't do the promotion any harm.

I am aware of the prior talk from Mayweather about fighting Hatton, and yes, they admitted they didn't want the fight then. I think now both Hatton and Mayweather are content to wait until next year to begin talks for the bout.

I don't think it will happen, because Mayweather and Hatton will both want so much money to make it happen. Mayweather isn't really a massive drawer at all, he's only had one PPV fight to date, (I think that's still the case isn't it, the Gatti fight being the one in question.) but he's a superstar as far as he is concerned. Hatton probably has a far bigger fanbase, but if Mayweather beats DLH (which I believe he will), then the goalposts will move considerably.

I want the fight to happen, but I have a gut feeling that Hatton will retire without ever having a fight of that magnitude.

Well Mayweather didn't go up in weight for any other reason other than Hatton and Cotto wouldn't fight him and he wanted PPV fights every single time he fought.

FMJ has had 2 PPVs, Gatti and Judah. The Judah fight did 350k despite Judah coming off a loss which was detrimental to the sale. Baldomir will be a PPV with a guaranteed $8m by all accounts. Hatton v Mayweather could have easily done 500k and with the UK market maybe 600 or more. It really was the biggest fight in boxing in 2005, Hatton has missed the moment now. Mayweather now has 2 bigger fish to fry - DLH and Mosley and I think he'll fight them both if he keeps winning. I actually think Mayweathers horribly overated and either of those 2 may beat him.

capcity varies from 19500 to 22500.
I think you can safely assume it was at the upper end for the zoo fight.

This fight could get over 30,000 at city ground, if tickets are priced sensibly. The fight at Millenium stadium Calzage homecoming I mean Skelton v Williams 2tickets were not very well priced never going to sell more than 20,000.

We can talk about how much everyone wants the WBC title yet not many are begging for Hatton-Witter. Both fights are dangerous but Castillo is dangerous and the victory wil mean something worldwide.

It is delusional to think otherwise.

Castillo is a cheat though.
I totally agree with the post of course a Castillo fight is more meaningful. Without looking to get into a debate with a studying / qualified philosopher, shouldn't cheating be seen in the same way as,,,,theft is theft is theft? In other words Castillo is no better or worse a cheat than any other.
Qualified I'll have you know :TU: It means very little, just that I can carry on arguing for a very long time without getting bored.

Seriously there is a difference between different types of theft. Unfortunately if you steal to feed your family you will be punished, if you steal for fun, kleptomania, you will be treated.

People say Corrales cheated when he spat the shield, I would say no as that was mid-fight and under duress. Is clinching cheating?

Castillo planned to come in heavy twice and you can either accept two counts of stupidity or say he used Corrales' willingness to go to war as a chance to cheat the weight making. Toes on the scales only add to this. I like Castillo but every time I see him looking huge at a weight I don't think "it must be hell getting down there" I think "I wonder if a foot found its way onto the scales undetected?"

Cheats don't prosper, they move into boxing and then prosper.
We'll agree ti disagree on the deliberate spitting of the gumbshield Terry. Your point about the scales does make you wonder though whether Castillo has been beating blown up lightweights though, which Hatton is always accused of. A foot under the scales couls easily knock 6 or 7lbs off.

Dear Lord, Castillo would put an almighty beating on Witter..Hatton-Urnago is a nice mix of styles, its gonna be a tough fight for hatton...for Urango-rabah, see a b-grade morales-raheem - Rabah just made hm look awful even though I don't think Rabah will have a greater upside than urango - for a true measure of urango, see arnaoutis-urango - he's predictable but strong as a bull and won't have to look far to find hatton...

btw, officially Castillo has barely or not even made weight in his last few fights, and thats before the scale tampering debacle...there is no question castillo belongs at 140 if not 147...

sensibly priced however means less mone for those involved. I would say Hatton v Witter could probably do 30,000 but more than that, I have serious doubts. The fight could only attract that many in Manchester, and therefore there's a limit to how many people there are from Manchester who support Hatton, and how many are willing to travel up there, pay for accomodation and travel and piss money etc, it's not a cheap night out, looking at least 250 quid for a boxing match.

If the fight were staged outside Manchester, it would be lucky to get 20,000, unless there was an exceptional card put together, so for instance a double-header with Calzaghe or something along those lines. Hatton is a draw, but he is a draw in Manchester primarily.

There aren't many fighters in the game today who can draw a crowd to come see them fight. TV money is the god now, not gate receipts.

Yes, should produce a good fight, he won't have to go looking for Hatton, but then Hatton won't have to go looking for him either.

Not sure how well Castillo would cope with Hatton's tempo and pressure, and his physical strength. Hatton's very strong at 140, he was notably stronger than Tszyu in the clinches, and can maintain a very high work rate. Castillo is better technically and fights well in close, and certainly packs a wallop, but his walloping has been done at 135, not 140 against men he was probably weighing about 10-15 lbs more than on fight night. Hatton weighs 154 come fight night, Castillo probably the same, but Hatton has proven he can mix it with the top level at the weight in Tszyu, whlist Castillo has not yet. We saw how much difference it can make when Hatton faced Collazo, whose punches really seemed to trouble Hatton and who was able to take Hatton's best efforts with ease save for a flash knockdown in the 1st.

with Castillo, I think he might actually hit harder moving up. Take for example Corrales I and Corrales II. Whether or not the light welters will be better able to soak it up, I don't know...

If he doesn't have the same impact moving up, JLC's punches will still have that sharp, cutting quality which would worry Hatton more than most

Might....end of.

What we do know is that Hatton hits hard enough at 140 to force Tszyu to quit and to keep most fighters negative. That's the strength of Hatton's style, even if he doesn't get them out of there, he rarely loses a round. The only guy I've ever seen take a handful of rounds from Hatton convincingly was Tszyu in the middle rounds, and even they he wasn't
being dominated.

I think that proved that a younger Tszyu who had not been so inactive and coming off such a bad injury would have beaten Hatton. However, Tszyu was beaten into submission by Vince Phillips so Hatton would always have a chance but a slight one. Apart from Tszyu what top fighter has Hatton faced at 140 pounds? Let's see him win every round against Cotto or Mayweather or even Witter.
I'm not saying he would win every round against Mayweather or Cotto you dumkopf. My point is that throughout his career, Hatton has rarely lose a round, and that he hits hard and often enough to discourage opponents.

Vince Phillips is well known for being a very big puncher, though I recall someone on here ridiculously claiming he was nothing of the sort and that that was why he was picked to fight Hatton.

Against Witter I could well see Hatton driving Witter backwards around the ring and winning virtually every round, unless Junior got to him early with some big shots and stopped him in his tracks. Of course this is mere supposistion on my part.

The bottom line is that Hatton is a proven full blown 140 lber, whilst Castillo is a guy moving up who has yet to prove he can cut the mustard above 135 at top level. More than that is just guesswork and bullshit.

I think in his true prime, Kostya would have nailed Hatton hard and often enough to have halted him in his tracks.

We saw what a slightly older less able Tszyu did in the middle rounds to Hatton, hitting him with those battering ram rights and slamming him with the left hook, but he wasn't able to maintain it as the fight wore on.

Tszyu said himself he never liked being crowded, this is where Phillips (another big strong and rugged chap) succeeded, and Urkal almost did.

I just think that Hatton, being as hittable as he is, would have lost out down the stretch to a fresher Kostya Tszyu. I think it would still have been close though with Tszyu toughing it out and making Hatton pay enough to keep him honest and thinking about getting tagged himself.

Hard to say with Tszyu, he didn't have that many high class prime opponents, but fights with Mosley and Oscar never were mentioned. Tszyu stayed at 140, and Mosley missed it altogether. I would probably have favoured both men over Tszyu, Oscar would have been too quick and too clever I think, and Mosley would have been THE MAN at 140 had he ever fought there.

And Witter just going to stand there and back up? Did Hatton do that to Collazo? Or to Maggee early? Witter would give angles and speed that would at least win the early rounds. Theres a reason this fight hasn't happened and thats because its a 50-50.

I agree Castillos made for Hatton pretty much
