Bruce Lee's amateur Boxing record

Post by Caractacus »

I had read somewhere that at age 17 ,Bruce Lee had been the
Amateur "Inter-School" Boxing champion of Hong Kong back in 1958 .
with an undefeated record of 23-0-0.
Bruce Lee represent La Salle College.
Reportedly after knocking out his first 3 opponents in round one,he had defeated Gary Elms in the finals( who had been the champion for the previous 3 years) to win the title .
anymore info concerning this ?

here is a film clip of the 2010 film BRUCE LEE MY BROTHER based on the book by Robert Lee (Bruce's brother)
that is about Bruce Lee growing up in Hong Kong during the 1940's and 1950's.
In this clip Bruce Lee is in a boxing match with Charlie Owen ( who was the Police Commisioners son)
who Bruce Lee later beat up outside the ring and had to leave Hong Kong for the USA in 1958.

This is misinformation Bruce Lee had only one amateur boxing match against Gary Elms. There are no records to prove otherwise. Also Gary Elms was the prior three time champion until his defeat against Bruce Lee in 1958.. the clip that is shown on this post is from a fictional movie about Bruce Lee. With no proof of this boxing match..

Bruce only had one amateur fight and won on pts over 3 rds. It was vs Gary Elms. The claim he beat 3 opponents before that was first mentioned is I think in Bruce Thomas' Fighting Spirit. I asked him where he found the info and he couldn't remember. There is no record of it, but the Elms win was reported in the local paper. Bruce also wrote about it in his diary, but no mention of 3 other wins, so they never happened.

Where can I watch the full version of this movie? Is there any subbed version for Spanish?

Are there any other clips or videos available from 'Bruce Lee My Brother'? I'm interested in seeing more scenes or additional content about Bruce Lee's life.
