Re: Article Top 10 Dirtiest Fighters
Clinching is the least, to me: what pisses me off is hitting-while-holding, and, above all, hitting-on-the-back-of-the-head... that freaks me out: a pro boxer was hit so many times on the back of his head, during a single fight (his opponent allegedly meant to wobble him and wear him down), that he got permanently injured.
One boxer once hit me on the back of my head during sparring (the only time it happened, in my short, lowest-profile amateur boxing career...), and I went mad at him, I told him if he would've done it again, I would've knocked him down, and I was meaning it, as he was in an immediately-lower weight-class than me, and I arguably could've got the best of him, back then.

No one mentioned Marciano yet.

Why are Duran and Dempsey on there? Jack was allowed to hit the other Jack (Sharkey) when he was talking to the referee. Duran was merely aggressive.
Golota needs to be on the list.

Duran hit a lot on the break. He also has got a lot of criticism for hitting low the Buchanan fight.
Golota has to be up there.

He had 3 fight (Bowe 1 &2) and Grant where he reversed victory. Akin to winning every round by shutout and then assaulting judges before decision is announced.

Forgot about the Buchanan fight. But that was just one blow, right? Today, they would have given Buchanan 5 minutes.Ambling Alp II wrote: ↑08 Jan 2019, 11:39 Duran hit a lot on the break. He also has got a lot of criticism for hitting low the Buchanan fight.

Regarding hitting on the break: a lot of times fighters are criticized for that when the other guy is holding. I think its understandable to not always hear the ref when you're doing your thing.

Supposedly it was more than once and the last was blatant but the camera doesn't have a good view.
Golota also bit a guy and intentionally headbutted Darnell Nicholson for no reason at all.

Surely Battling Nelson is at or near the top of any list?
Saddler and Zivic are two that are given.
You've got to separate the era's though. Of modern times I think Andre Ward may take the cake as the dirtiest with the likes of Golota, Hatton, Hopkins, Salido, Porter not far off.
