James Toney is a World Champion, and a Hall of Famer. Rubin Carter is a journeyman with 1 good win that they made a movie about because he was accused of a murder he didn't commit.

Carter was not a World Class fighter. He can't beat World Class fighters. Period.

Why don't you consider Carter's wins against George Benton and Florentino Fernandez and Holly Mims to be "good wins "?

They're good wins. I just get annoyed at Carter's name being bandied about as if he belongs in the conversation with ATG's. He doesn't.

Agree. And it’s annoying that even for a brief time thanks to Hollywood, he was considered to be robbed against Giardello. That portrayal landed people who perpetuated that on the screen in legal hot water. Glad to see it. Joey beat him going away.
