Cruiserweight: Evander Holyfield
Light Heavyweight: Roy Jones Jr.
Super Middleweight: Andre Ward
Middleweight: Marvin Hagler
Jr. Middleweight: Tommy Hearns
Welterweight: Sugar Ray Robinson
Jr. Welterweight: Aaron Pryor
Lightweight: Ike Williams
Jr. Lightweight: Floyd Mayweather Jr.
Featherweight: Willie Pep
Jr. Featherweight: (No name comes to mind)

Jr. Bantamweight: Johnny Tapia
Flyweight: Michael Carbajal or Mark Johnson

I can't think of any particularly noteworthy American 108 or 105 pounders.

No he was born in California.
Have no problem with any of gilgamesh's picks except for light heavyweight. Roy jones is nowhere near being the best. Most people would go with Charles. I would go with Spinks. Moore, Tunney, and Foster have to be higher s well.

Middleweight could reasonably be Greb. I think Saddler is right there with Pep but no one else does.

Always think these lists are unfair to Langford. He fought in several weight classes and we really don't even know what weight class he would have been in for many of his fights.

I agree that Saddler could be one at feather. I’d have Foster as one at light heavy. Good list though

True. He was not born in the United States. Guess we can't count him for this.

Light-Heavyweights would certainly be the great Ezzard Charles.

I can't believe until this day that no American boxer has ever dominated the 122lbs division (Super Bantamweight/Jr featherweight). Maybe Kennedy McKinney or Junior Jones are great shouts. I can't think of another American boxer that was great at that weight.

At Bantamweight, was definitely the great Manuel Ortiz of California. He was a two-time World Bantamweight Champion, defending the crown a total of 16 times! A true all-time pound per pound 100 great!

Second in the list would be Joltin' Jeff Chandler!

At flyweight? I would pick Mark Johnson

Jr Flyweight? Michael Carbajal

At strawweight? Nobody, really.

For the record I agree with you guys that Charles is a better Light Heavyweight than Roy Jones. I was trying to list the best that I've personally seen in my own era with most of these, but I went with Pep at Featherweight, because I couldn't think of another American Featherweight that would be anywhere near that level.
