just take a quick look at the ratings of usa and uk boxers on boxrec, usa have almost 50 more pages of active boxers

at the top they have guys like crawford, benavidez, ennis, bam rodriguez, shakur, teo lopez, haney,....how do the uk's top 10 compare?

granted it's just boxrec ratings, but i think it captures the talent difference - hamzah sheeraz at #19 is p4p uk's top guy on boxrec,....there are 9 americans already ahead of him

that said, id still say UK is one of the strongest pro boxing countries historically, and still now. defo top 5. maybe you could even argue #2, but i think usa without doubt has to be #1

there are some countries like japan that do great p4p, but dont really have the depth at higher weights to place at the very top. they have so much top lighter talent now that you could make an argument over uk for active boxers, but not historically. some east euro and central asian countries also have loads of super talented guys, but a lot of them stay amateur or only ocassionally fight pro

the reeemergence of wbss style fights (through iba) that are held throughout those regions has slowed the momentum of pro boxing a bit in those countries, as this now offers them a way to straddle the line instead of committing to going pro. that said a really good uzbek world am champ went pro recently in the usa with golden boy, ruslan abdullaev, excited to see him

If we're adding in any of the Extra divisions. I think it's obvious that Calzaghe is the guy at 168. It'd probably be David Haye at Cruiserweight. Not sure who would get the nod in the other weight classes, but those 2 I'm fairly confident in, and it hurts me to give Haye credit as the best British Cruiserweight so I know it must be true.

If you want to argue Tony Bellew or Johnny Nelson just because f*ck David Haye. I'm for it

I think moving to ww straight after Tszyu harmed him. Think the Collazo fight showed he wasnt big enough.
