What's Next For Dubois?

Post by Taansend »

Turns 28 in September. Coming off a beating, but prior to that hadn't fought in ten months.

Five of his last six fights have been tough physically.

The knockdowns & injury against Lerena, the first loss v Usyk, the Miller & Hrgovic bouts. Then an easier bout against AJ & now this bout.

He may be levels below Usyk but where does he stand with the rest of the division?

There's no interest in Usyk, AJ & Fury bouts, for now.

Parker or Kabayel would be great fights. Or does he take a nice break?

I'd have thought he'd be hoping AJ wants the rematch now rather than facing any of the top guys.

Aside from Uysk and Fury, DDD has a shot against anyone

Innit, he‘s not short of options or coin. And not even 30

Kugan lost his temper a bit with Dave Allen for calling for DDD to retire.

He is already financially secure.

Retiring leaves an empty hole for all, but maybe for DDD a bigger one

Next thing for DDD is to find a new trainer

I think they might make the Joyce rematch. Joe gets one final pay day & Dubois gets his revenge. Makes sense.

I think Charles did a good job with him mentally. Got him confident but I don’t think he improved Dubois technically. I actually thought Shane McGuigan was the perfect coach for him but sadly the Dad falling out with Caroline put paid to that.

It probably wouldn’t have mattered but it seems Dubois had perhaps too many voices in the corner this time. Charles, Farrell as well as his dad and allegedly chipping in.

Someone who bounces between cruiserweight and Heavyweight and has a solid, if unspectacular, record that Adam Smith can growl about.

Mike Perez fits the bill. The casuals will have seen him on the Wardley undercard getting a stoppage.

He's still young for a heavyweight and there are plenty of good fights to put him in. It helps that he's only faced three top 15 names so he can face any of the others without anyone complaining. However, knowing Frank, we'll see Dubois vs Adeleye, Joyce or Hysa.

Personally, I'd like to see him against Wardley. I wouldn't mind a comeback fight against someone like Joyce or Whyte first though if it's a quick turnaround.

Big D just got to dust himself off and go again.. Assume his dad will decide any changes in the 'team' behind him and he's got Frank to help extract money out of Turki.

No idea if Joyce retired but that rematch early on a big Saudi card start of 2026 sounds about right.

Obviously I know nothing about him, but the relationship with his father seems to counter any building of a relationship with a trainer. The father seems very controlling, evidenced by Caroline being excommunicated for breaking free. I do wonder how good that is for Daniel. I've never boxed other than as a teenager so my insight is zero, but does anyone else think he fights for his father more than himself?

He is a young heavyweight and no doubt will regroup and return.

I would definitely watch this. Spencer Fearon made some good points in an interview with Boxing King Media today.

I think Kabayel could beat them all apart from Usyk.

I think for sure he ducked Parker now.
£70 million reasons why, and from last night's performance, he would have lost to Parker as well.
Good on him for getting the payday, but he gets no respect from me.
Plus he was worse in the rematch with Uysk
He needs to rebuild.
I don't think he has the intelligence to be a proper champion, but you never know, he might be gifted another belt down the line.
Fwank has a way of doing that.

Nowhere near 70m last night. Not even a 10th of that I would guess.

I got that info from an article a few days back where the writer was told Uysk was getting around 100 and Doobie 70 mil.
It did sound a bit much given the oil money wasn't there.

Can't improve what's between his ears.
