- Boxer star ratings look at the current rating including winner above loser correction:

-- Fernando Daniel Martinez has 11.39 points, which is higher than 5 star limit 9.45 points.
-- Phumelela Cafu has 4.14 points. His last upset win was against higher rated Kosei Tanaka, who has 7.42 points, Cafu's current rating is moved up to 6.23 points by winner above loser rule - and Tanaka's is moved down to 6.1 points. So Cafu is higher than the 4 star limit of 5.0 points.

- Bout star ratings look at the minimum opponent rating at time of the bout, not regarding the winner above loser rule:

-- Fernando Daniel Martinez has 11.39 points, which is higher than 5 star limit 9.45 points.
-- Phumelela Cafu has 4.14 points. So Cafu is higher than the 3 star limit of 2.36 points.
-- So the bout rating is 3 stars.

I'm confused, it was Bam Bam who fought, why does Martinez affect their bout?

Sorry, I meant Jesse Rodriguez ...

-- Jesse Rodriguez has 28.23 points, which is higher than 5 star limit 9.45 points.

Currently the winner above loser procedure is done for all current ratings. This is once for each boxer = 800,000 times..

To do it for all bout ratings the procedure would have to been called for each boxer at each time of a bout. This would be about 2,000,000 bouts and 800,000 boxers = 1,600,000,000,000 times.

This would be far to much ...

Here it says
"5 stars = both opponents have 28.0 rating points at least ~ best 100 boxers"

So, has this changed? What are the current star rating limits?
