BOXERS PHOTOS

Post by davidroake »

Im aware that the site is there for everyone to contribute to but why are there so many photos of obscure boxers (both male and female and many not looking old enough to have had more than 2 contests) being added to the database.
I would have thought that the photo section was in place to record pictures of fighters who have contributed to boxing history whether as champions, contenders or journeymen. Who is interested in these nonentities?

if a boxer has a record here, a photo on their record puts a face to the name and makes boxrec a bit closer to complete in terms of an info source on boxing. when a photo is added to their record, it will then appear on the uploaded images page

there are far more obscure boxers in the world than there are famous ones, so it makes sense that on a records database quantity would lean towards fighters who not everyone will know. some of these boxers may also be well known locally, but not outside that area

do you propose that fighters you don't know shouldn't be allowed to have a photo on their record?

A truly weird post. :o ...why wouldn't we want information available to us and then we can make choices as to which we are interested in??

I have a record here. Five pro fights.
To be honest, I really never thought about this.
And, I kinda always thought it was nice that a four round prelim guy had his record on boxrec.
I would guess most guys in my shoes would feel the same way.

i also think [email protected] works for sending photos, even if it's for pro record

and everyone who has ever fought has contributed to the history of boxing, even if in the tiniest way

but aside from that whatever historical impact we can argue, it simply makes sense for a database of info about boxers to include a photo of the boxers if those are available
