Former world champion Zsolt Erdei returning aged 51

The former WBO light-heavyweight and WBC cruiserweight champion Zsolt Erdei will embark on a comeback at the age of 51. The Hungarian has announced the development himself on social media.

There regardless remain no details given regarding when, where and against who the 34-1 (18KOs) fighter will be returning against but he has signed a contract with Hell Boxing Kings, the promotional organisation that has recently signed a number of other fighters, has a strong financial backing, and is overseeing a tournament that begins on August 23 in Budapest.

Erdei made his professional debut in 2000. He won the WBO title via a unanimous decision victory over Julio Cesar Gonzales of Mexico in 2004. He defended his title 11 times before moving up to cruiserweight where he won the WBC title with victory over the Italian Giacobbe Fragomeni in 2009.

He last fought in 2014, when earning a decision over Georgia’s Shalva Jomardashvili.

I really don't care for this trend of guys deciding they'd like to make a comeback in their 50's.

It worked out unbelievably well for Mike Tyson due to his celebrity status. For anyone else it's extremely dangerous to your health whether you win or lose the fights.

If it's against other 50 year olds, I guess it's acceptable enough
