The Sun Isn't Shining on the Hayemaker

Post by KiwiRider »

"David Haye has been accused of failing to pay almost £600,000 in debts as the HMRC takes him to court. The former boxing world champion, who was nicknamed the Hayemaker, failed to settle corporation tax bills over three years.
He is said to have racked up the huge debt from 2010 to 2013. During that time his career was booming as he won several big fights but also suffered a world title defeat to Wladimir Klitschko.

HMRC reportedly won a hearing at the county court in London to probe David's firm, Hayemaker Boxing Ltd. Court papers have shown that the HMRC believes the firm deliberately tried to avoid tax. “It is alleged that the company’s profits were deliberately understated,"
According to reports, David also faces interest payments and penalty fines. David is believed to have banked an impressive £20million from his boxing career.

However, his business empire has crumbled as in 2023 it was revealed two of his firms had gone bust. They reportedly owed over half a million pounds.

David's sports firm named The Undercard London is in £280,400 debt and faces closure"

There's a well known reality TV host who used to do the same.

Within the law, yes of course they do.
But if it can be proven it was done deliberately, it's the next level up from having to pay it back. It's pretty serious that they are even mentioning it, that means they have actual evidence.

He did Yh. He wouldn’t have done a comeback if he was going through divorce. He would have done it AFTER.

He could have still paid off his taxes.

one of them Gallaghers, had a divorce and now gotta make the money back with the gigs.

What became of his poker career?

My advice, have a moneyspinner rematch fight with Chizza for his last fight.

He got divorced in August 2016, he fought two comeback fights before that in early 2016 (Mori and Gjergjaj)

that is a brilliant headline you put there, fantastic

Haye always struck me as intelligent, so a bit surprised he has HMRC debts. I hope it doesn't cause another comeback, never healthy past 40.

It was actually after the Hate Bellew fight that made me make a stand about these post retirement bouts and I've not watched one since.
So I have David Haye to thank for that.

It's difficult to see that fight spinning a lot of money, Chisora would demolish Haye who is presumably now a shell of the shell of a fighter who lost to Bellew...
