15 Rounds Heavyweight Bout
This would be a rematch from the 1972 Olympic Trials where Bobick won his right for his Olympic berth after Holmes was DQ for holding. In the pros this time, Holmes would not give Duane any room nor space from landing his powerful punches by sticking his quick and sharp long left jabs to his face to punish him all around the ring, then he would knock Duane down with a right hand for the count of 9 and Holmes would land blistering unanswered punches on Duane in the eighth round until the referee stops the fight as Holmes would avenge his Olympic trial loss. What do you guys think and who do you got?

Re: Larry Holmes vs. Duane Bobick
bobick was 7 years older than holmes and significantly more experienced when they fought in the ams, with around 100 fights at the time to only about 15-20 for larry. it was man vs boy in the amateurs. as pros though, with larry more matured, it's a totally different story, not even a remotely competitive fight any more
depends how much larry wants to push it, he could get a stoppage very early if he wanted to, although i could see him being happy to jab bob's head off for a while and carry him for a bit

Re: Larry Holmes vs. Duane Bobick
Whenever Larry starts letting loose with power punches, this one's over.
Re: Larry Holmes vs. Duane Bobick
Bobick was nearly a year younger than Holmes as Duane was born in August 1950 while Holmes was born on November 3, 1949 unless you meant experience when you compare their age.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑14 Aug 2025, 19:06 bobick was 7 years older than holmes and significantly more experienced when they fought in the ams, with around 100 fights at the time to only about 15-20 for larry. it was man vs boy in the amateurs. as pros though, with larry more matured, it's a totally different story, not even a remotely competitive fight any more

Re: Larry Holmes vs. Duane Bobick
f@ck me, ya, must have mixed bob with someone - although still much more experienced than larry when they first met. larry was at something like 18 amateur fights entering the trials, while bobick had already been around the world boxing the very best and had over 100 fights
totally different stages. larry was stopped by nick wells around the same time, he wasnt near his advanced form yet
