DEVIN HANEY SUES MOTHER OF DAUGHTER, WHO ALLEGED ABUSE, FOR DEFAMATION, EXTORTION
Devin Haney’s legal battle with the mother of his infant daughter continued Wednesday.
TMZ.com reported that the former undisputed lightweight champion filed a lawsuit in Los Angeles in which he alleged Leena Sayed extorted and defamed him. Sayed gave birth to their daughter, Khrome, in January.
Haney’s suit was a response to Sayed filing for a restraining order against him late in June. A judge in Nevada granted her a temporary order of protection at that time because Sayed alleged Haney pushed her to the ground while she was pregnant and abused her on several other occasions over the prior 16 months.
Haney, 26, denied the allegations and countered in his suit that Sayed threatened to ruin his reputation and deny him visitation rights if he didn’t pay her more money in child support. The Oakland native seeks unspecified damages for intentional infliction of emotional distress, according to court documents.
“Devin Haney has lived his life and built his career with integrity, discipline and respect,” Bobby Samini, Haney’s attorney, told TMZ on Wednesday. “He has worked tirelessly to achieve success through dedication, not shortcuts, and he remains committed to conducting himself with honesty and principle inside and outside the ring.”
Haney alleged in the suit that Sayed “has repeatedly published false and defamatory statements about” the former WBC 140-pound champion. He contended that her actions were “extreme and outrageous” as well.
Sayed’s attorney, Mark Vincent Kaplan, contended in his own statement to TMZ that his client is seeking only what the law requires Haney to pay for child support.
“I think Mr. Haney would be best served to make his case to the family court,” Kaplan said, “and not the court of social media.”
Sayed and Haney, who resides in Henderson, Nevada, are due in court early in September for a hearing related to her restraining order.
Haney (32-0, 15 KOs, 1 NC) is scheduled to challenge WBO welterweight champ Brian Norman Jr. (28-0, 22 KOs, 1 NC) in the co-feature of “The Ring IV” on November 22 at ANB Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Former undisputed Lightweight Champion. Went up and fought a respected champion in his first fight there and now goes up again to fight the best guy in the division.
People can have their opinions about his style, but pretending he isn’t a good fighter or that his name is only in headlines for drama is just ignoring reality.

I ain't saying he's never accomplished anything, but in the past year or so it's this, lackluster boring performances and whining about Ryan Garcia.Sendo Takeshi wrote: ↑21 Aug 2025, 03:14Former undisputed Lightweight Champion. I used to like Haney. I don't much care for him at this point and I hope Norman Jr. Cleans his clock

Yeah, the whining stuff rubbed people wrong, but to be fair, I’d be pissed too if I took a beatdown from a guy juiced up on PEDs who looked like trash in his next fight.
But it's not like Haney’s just been coasting. A tune-up in Ramirez and now he’s jumping straight into the top dog of his third weight class. That kind of ambition deserves respect.
But I can see where you are coming from.
