Both Welterweight and Middleweight
How would the series have gone like in both weight?

Sugar Ray Leonard beats Sugar Ray Robinson at welterweight.
Robinson beats Leonard above welterweight. That's my view.

Robinson wins at any weight, every time. Could Leonard from the Hagler bout beat Robinson from the Pender bouts ? Yes. Pre 1960, SRR doesn't lose to Leonard.

Sugar Ray Robinson at middleweight would have been too strong for the smaller Sugar Ray Leonard.
A fair fight would be at welterweight. And to my taste and view of seeing both on tape, Leonard was much more complete than Robinson. Robinson couldn't fight inside as well as Leonard.
But, at middleweight, it's a different story. Robinson would be too strong for Leonard to cope with. No matter if Leonard runs, he would be beat because Robinson could match the speed that Marvelous didn't match.
Marvelous was ready to be taken by any top middleweight that night anyway. That's why Leonard beat him. He beat him AT THE RIGHT TIME.
