I think the bookies had it an even match, Hamed, the number one contender had never fought at featherweight before, and Robinson was a very strong man and a seasoned champion

It wasn't public knowledge that Robinson was on holiday when he got the call, leaving him with 3 weeks notice or be stripped of his title

Said in the Daily Mirror preview that Hamed was a bigger favourite in the betting than Hodkinson and McMillan were so must have been pretty short to win , they got the prediction right with a stoppage after half way too

Put it this way, everyone knew Naz was going to win that fight - Steve was the sacrificial lamb served up by Warren.

I remember being disappointed they weren’t putting the prince in with one of the big-name champions, and going for Steve’s low rent WBO bauble instead.

Hamed was a 1/4 favourite. I remember this as the Racing Post tipped up Robinson (bigger, stronger etc etc) at 11/4

Also, & I might be a bit hazy on this, but I think there was a clause in Robinsons contract meaning he 'only' got a million or something if fighting a number one contender &, miraculously, Naz was installed as just that despite never having fought at the weight.

He deserved a much bigger share of the purse but the Promoter allegedly had a favourite

Yeah I mistakenly wrote Hamed instead of Robinson. Amended now. Robinson was the underdog, Hamed the favourite as expected.
