Has he even fought since he lost to Canelo?
Of course not, he sold out :D
He was just there for the paycheck and vanished, while Canelo is fighting his fourth fight since then.

THE RING, DAZN TO LAUNCH NEW ‘UNDERDOG’ SERIES IN LAS VEGAS DURING CANELO-CRAWFORD FIGHT WEEK

The Ring will launch its new series, “The Underdog,” during Canelo Alvarez-Terence Crawford fight week next month in Las Vegas.

DAZN will stream what will become a monthly series in January. “The Underdog” will regularly feature rising contenders, prospects and occasionally underexposed champions in designed “50-50 fights.”

The inaugural main event of the series will match WBO flyweight champion Anthony Olascuaga (9-1, 6 KOs) against number one contender Juan Carlos Camacho (19-1, 8 KOs) the night of September 11 at Fontainebleau Las Vegas’ BleauLive Theater. Tickets to this event, which start at $50, went on sale today and can be bought via Ticketmaster.com by clicking this link.

The undercard will feature a bout between junior lightweight prospects Justin Viloria (9-0, 7 KOs) and Joshafat Ortiz (13-1, 6 KOs). Junior middleweights Jalil Hackett (9-1, 7 KOs) and Elijah Vines (8-0, 7 KOs), junior featherweights Emiliano Alvarado (8-0, 5 KOs) and Juan Garcia (7-0, 2 KOs) and cruiserweights Jamar Talley (3-0, 3 KOs) and Isaiah Thompson (11-4-2, 10 KOs) will square off on the undercard as well.

“The Underdog is all about giving fans the fights they want – competitive, unpredictable matchups that highlight the next generation of stars,” Rick Reeno, CEO of The Ring, said. “September’s teaser event is a preview of what’s to come and, starting in January next year, fans can expect must-watch action every month.”

In addition to staging at least one show per month in 2026, creative innovations for “The Underdog,” aimed at reimagining the sport and enhancing the fan experience, will be unveiled soon.

WBC PRESIDENT MAURICIO SULAIMAN CALLS FOR CANELO-CRAWFORD TO AIR ON FREE TV IN MEXICO

Boxing fans in the United States couldn’t be happier about Netflix streaming the Canelo Alvarez-Terence Crawford fight September 13.

Even if it requires signing up for one month of Netflix, American fight fans won’t need to pay a steep fee to watch a “mega fight” for the first time since pay-per-view became boxing’s preferred platform of promoters and network executives 30-plus years ago. If you’re one of the more than 81 million U.S. residents with a Netflix subscription, you won’t need to pay a penny more than the streaming service’s monthly charge to watch Crawford challenge Alvarez for his Ring, IBF, WBA, WBC and WBO super middleweight titles at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.

Netflix’s cheapest plan costs $7.99 monthly in the U.S. The Canelo-Crawford card could’ve cost as much as $100 on pay-per-view in the U.S.

Mexican boxing fans are far less enthused about Netflix’s involvement in Canelo-Crawford. Alvarez’s fights are usually broadcast on free TV in his home country, but Netflix owns the exclusive worldwide rights to Canelo-Crawford.

Mauricio Sulaiman, president of the Mexico City-based WBC, pointed out in his sanctioning organization’s most recent press release that his showdown with Crawford will mark Alvarez’s first fight in 16 years that won’t be available on free television in Mexico.

TV Azteca has aired Alvarez’s past 21 fights free of charge in Mexico. Televisa, TV Azteca’s primary competitor, televised Alvarez’s bouts for free before he signed an exclusive contract with TV Azteca.

“The Mexican people will be deprived of shouting with joy on the night of this traditional Mexican holiday,” Sulaiman said, “cheering on their idol.”

Most recent reports estimated Netflix has nearly 14 million subscribers in Mexico, where boxing is the second most popular sport, behind only soccer. Sulaiman, who has a longstanding relationship with TV Azteca, hopes Netflix will reconsider and allow Alvarez-Crawford to at least be broadcast on delay in Mexico the night of their fight.

“I hope Netflix reflects,” Sulaiman said, “and agrees to allow the most important boxing event in recent years to be seen on free-to-air television for the people of Mexico. The formula is very simple: air it live on Netflix for all those who have the platform and after [Netflix's] program ends, then enter a delayed broadcast so people can watch that great fight. What a great Mexican celebration that would be! The classic soccer match between America and Chivas ends at 11 p.m. and people could watch what happened in Canelo vs. Crawford.”

Guadalajara’s Alvarez (63-2-2, 39 KOs) is only a slight favorite to defeat Crawford (41-0, 31 KOs), even though the Omaha, Nebraska native moved up two weight classes for their highly anticipated battle between four-division champions. Crawford is ranked No. 3 on The Ring’s pound-for-pound list, five spots atop the eighth-ranked Alvarez.

Loeffler on whether Canelo has lost a step since fighting Golovkin
“I’m very familiar with Canelo with the trilogy of the GGG fights. I really think GGG should’ve got the decision the first fight, I thought he won the second fight too but I could’ve easily seen a draw, and you’ve got to give credit to Canelo where he won the third fight, there was no question about that.

“But Canelo has definitely slowed down since those fight but even with that he’s still a tremendous force in boxing, big body puncher, physically very strong, great timing as a counterpuncher, so you can’t take anything away from Canelo and Crawford has one of the best boxing IQs in the ring. So it’s a great matchup, it’s one of those fantasy matchups that people always talk about and they were able to make it happen for this show here and I’m really looking forward to this fight.”

On who he thinks is the smarter boxer between Canelo and Crawford
“I don’t want to take anything away from Canelo because Crawford has a really high ring IQ but so does Canelo. Canelo’s more of a counterpuncher, he sets traps. Crawford, I have to give with his boxing ability, his hand speed, his foot speed (the edge in those areas). Canelo, physically I would say is a little bit stronger, he can kind of impose his will on it. It’s such a great matchup I wouldn’t be surprised if either one were to win the fight.

“I think Canelo’s been on this big stage before. I think people kind of dismiss him a little bit with that last performance he had in Riyadh but when you have an opponent like (William) Scull who’s not going to engage, it’s really hard to look good against someone like that.

“So I would give the edge to Canelo because he’s been in that position before. I don’t think the weight is as big as a lot of people are saying because Crawford probably walks around at that weight, probably only has to drop a couple pounds but he’s the type of guy that can easily put on the muscle and the mass and use his hand speed, his foot speed to box. I just think if Canelo is able to impose his will and throw the body shots and throw some counter punches I can see him edging out a win on that night.”

On what Crawford has to be most careful about with Canelo
“I really think his body punches. He’s got some great either counter punch to the head or he’s got some great left hooks to the body that really are effective, so he can easily wear you down. So I think that’s what Crawford has to look out for, those tricky body shots that Canelo throws.”

On how Crawford should attack Canelo
“Crawford has to really be careful with those body shots. He cannot get lured into — he definitely cannot get lured into a firefight. He’s going to lose if it’s a back and forth type of situation, that’s not where Crawford wants to be. He wants to stay on the outside, use his speed, his skills, and really I see him boxing. Now if he hurts Canelo then he can go there and start going toe-to-toe but Canelo’s the kind of guy you don’t want to stand in front of that guy because he really can start to pick you apart.”

I've watched a fair amount of these guys in the last few weeks in preparation for the fight, and the more I watch of them the more confident I am that Canelo is going to beat him.

Aside from the advantages in strength he has. He also has better defense than Crawford and gets hit clean less often. Also Crawford tends to be a headhunter, while Canelo will attack the body with consistency. Crawford will hit the body as well, but he doesn't do with the consistency of Crawford.

Crawford gets easier to hit, and almost squares up sometimes when he turns orthodox and starts trying to do damage.

Is TKO freezing out sanctioning bodies from Canelo-Crawford?

The new TKO boxing promotion ultimately hopes to award its own title belts.

In the meantime, the group is giving all four sanctioning bodies the cold shoulder. Traditionally, representatives would award their four belts to the winner of Saturday night’s undisputed super-middleweight title fight between Canelo Alvarez and fellow four-division champion Terence Crawford in Las Vegas.

But World Boxing Council President Mauricio Sulaiman told BS Monday he has not received communication from fight promoter TKO on a number of requests, including permission to deliver his belt to the winner.

Sulaiman said all four sanctioning bodies are in such limbo, and while one official for TKO said the matter may be resolved during fight week, which starts with Tuesday’s grand arrivals, Sulaiman is miffed and seeking answers, saying, “I surely hope” a resolution arrives.

“The fact that the belts being contested for [cannot be presented] … it is in the rules and regulations. It is in the contracts. It is common practice worldwide,” Sulaiman said.

“How can you expect the best fighters in the world to compete for a championship when the rules are not respected and the official representatives – we’re talking the four presidents of the four organizations – are denied. It is completely unbelievable and unacceptable to think the presidents are not permitted to perform their duties.”

TKO, funded heavily by Saudi Arabia’s Turki Alalshikh and headed by UFC CEO Dana White, is moving to lobby Congress to alter long-existing federal legislation that prohibits promoters from awarding fighters belts and ranking fighters, as TKO plans to do with its new organization that aims to launch next year.

The four sanctioning bodies – the WBC, World Boxing Organization, World Boxing Association and International Boxing Federation – are often subject to skepticism and ridicule for charging 3% fees for title fights and tweaking their rankings to suit the best interests of themselves or favored promoters.

And now, on a fight card some see as the beginning of TKO’s takeover of boxing, this friction has the potential of boiling over.

On a Spanish-language podcast, Sulaiman insisted he will find his way to the ring.

“You can have two security guards in that corner trying to take me out because I will enter that ring,” he said.

He told BS, “There has been absolutely no response. No word on … everything that’s usually done in an undisputed fight with two fighters who have been world champions for the last 14 years [Canelo] and 12 years [Crawford]. I’m disappointed.

“I have not spoken to Dana White. I sent him a letter a couple months ago and did not get a response. They appointed a person to communicate with the WBC and he has not responded to that specific question. We always do a commemorative belt for May and September. We go above and beyond to help support the promotion. And at this moment, they haven’t shown the courtesy of even replying to the situation.”

Sulaiman stopped short of labeling this a mission statement by the new promotion to blackball the sanctioning bodies.

“It would be very irresponsible to deliver an opinion like that,” he said. “I’m just trying to respond to a factual matter.

“I have requested countless times – on the phone and in writing – to confirm the credentials, the seating arrangement and the protocol for the WBC to present the belt to the winner. Without response.

“I like to be positive and constructive and not speculate on conspiracy theories. I am hopeful it is just a misunderstanding or their abundance of work.

“Hopefully, we’ll be cleared.”

TERENCE CRAWFORD DENIES RUMORS OF SHOULDER INJURY, BEING OUT OF SHAPE FOR CANELO FIGHT

Terence Crawford wore a look of disbelief and rotated his shoulders when asked to address one of the prominent rumors related to his showdown with Canelo Alvarez.

Crawford assured a group of reporters that his shoulder isn’t injured after his “grand arrival” Tuesday night at Fontainebleau Las Vegas.

“Where I got a shoulder injury?,” Crawford asked. “I think people coming up with they own antics. ‘Terence Crawford got a shoulder injury. Terence Crawford [is] out of shape. Terence Crawford’s slow.’ … They coming up with all kinds of stuff.”

Fighters typically don’t acknowledge injuries until after fights, but rumors gain momentum immediately in the age of social media. Unfazed, Crawford calmly addressed a lot of speculation Tuesday night regarding his preparation for the biggest fight of his career Saturday night at Allegiant Stadium, including rampant criticism of his physique and how he’ll handle fighting at the highest weight of his career.

“I’m at my natural weight,” Crawford said. “Me bulking up – a lotta people is taking [it] too far in that, ‘Oh, he’s slow. He’s bulked up. This and that. He’s fat, and this and that.’ I don’t care about all that. I just wanna fight.”

Crawford (41-0, 31 KOs), who will turn 38 on September 28, hasn’t boxed higher than the junior middleweight limit of 154 pounds in 17 years as a pro.

The Omaha, Nebraska, native fought only once above the welterweight maximum of 147. He beat Uzbekistan’s Israil Madrimov (10-2-1, 7 KOs) by unanimous decision in that 12-round, 154-pound title fight 13 months ago at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles.

Mexico’s Alvarez (63-2-2, 39 KOs) has competed as high as 175 pounds twice and no lower than 168 since his last 160-pound title defense against Daniel Jacobs in May 2019.

The 5-foot-8 Crawford is slightly taller than Alvarez, though, has a four-inch reach advantage and doesn’t seem smaller than the undisputed super middleweight champion when they stand next to each other.

“I don’t care if he bigger or I’m bigger,” Crawford said. “We still gotta come fight now. That’s the only thing I’m worried about and thinking about. I’m just waiting, counting the days now.”

The odds on their fight have tightened to the point that Alvarez is hardly favored (minus-165/plus-135 according to DraftKings). Alvarez, ranked eighth by The Ring pound-for pound, opened as more than a 2-1 favorite when this 12-round bout with third-ranked Crawford was announced.

Netflix will stream their main event for Alvarez’s Ring, IBF, WBA, WBC and WBO 168-pound crowns. The streaming giant’s three-fight undercard coverage is scheduled to start Saturday at 9 p.m. ET (6 p.m. PT).

TERENCE CRAWFORD: LOSING WOULDN'T TARNISH MY LEGACY, I'M A FIRST BALLOT HALL-OF-FAMER

LAS VEGAS – Canelo Alvarez seemingly has more to lose Saturday night than Terence Crawford.

The iconic Mexican champion already has two losses and two draws on his record. He’ll also earn a nine-figure purse for facing Crawford.

But if Alvarez is beaten by a 37-year-old opponent who moved up two weight classes to challenge him, the undisputed super middleweight champion’s legacy would be damaged. Crawford is widely viewed as a smaller man and has boxed above the welterweight limit of 147 pounds only once.

The mere idea of Crawford challenging Alvarez wasn’t even entertained by Alvarez or the paying public with any seriousness just a couple years ago.

While Crawford’s perfect record is at stake, if he loses to a perceived bigger man who has won world titles in each of the three divisions above the highest weight at which Crawford has fought, well, that’s what should have happened.

Crawford doesn’t agree with those prevailing perceptions of how this result should shape their legacies.

“First and foremost, I’m definitely gonna win,” Crawford told a group of reporters Wednesday at Fontainebleau Las Vegas. “I’m winning this fight for sure. But at the same time, I don’t think losing tarnish me or Canelo’s legacy. You know, I think Canelo’s a first-ballot Hall-of-Famer. You know, and I think that I’m a first-ballot Hall-of-Famer.

“So win, lose or draw, both of us going in the Hall of Fame. And I think that’s the ultimate goal at the end of the day, you know, to be named with all the great fighters that came before us, to be inducted into the Hall of Fame for all that we done in the sport of boxing.”

Alvarez (63-2-2, 39 KOs) and Crawford (41-0, 31 KOs) are surefire first-ballot Hall-of-Fame fighters.

Crawford clearly can enhance his standing in boxing history, however, more than Alvarez by winning their 12-round fight for Alvarez’s Ring, IBF, WBA, WBC and WBO super middleweight titles.

A victory would make the Omaha, Nebraska native an undisputed champion in a third division, unprecedented for a male boxer in the four-belt era. Becoming a champion in a fifth division overall would be a rare accomplishment as well.

Crawford’s opinion of Alvarez’s legacy notwithstanding, he realizes there are legions of boxing observers unconvinced that he is capable of upsetting Alvarez in a main event Netflix will stream globally.

“I think people is underestimating everything about me, but that doesn’t matter,” Crawford said. “You know, we got a fight here Saturday and all the [questions] will be answered that night.”

Alvarez is a marginal favorite versus Crawford, according to DraftKings (-165/+135). Netflix’s undercard coverage is set to begin at 9 p.m. ET and 6 p.m. PT from Allegiant Stadium.

Crawford is right that a loss wouldn't tarnish his legacy much. He's daring to be great, and he's trying something that very few have ever attempted. Even if he does well in defeat it's a boost to his legacy, if he wins it's a monumental boost.

If Canelo loses on the other hand. It's a fairly significant blow to his legacy. As of now he's a greater fighter historically than Crawford. He's arguably the 3rd or 4th best fighter that has come along in the 21st century. If he loses to Crawford that makes him clearly not as good as Crawford, clearly not as good as Hopkins, and probably a few more as he tumbles down a little bit on the all time list.

It won't undo the entire career Canelo has had obviously, but it'll mean that just like De La Hoya he never could really win the biggest fights.
