Wladimir Klitschko vs Deontay Wilder (for Undisputed in 2015)

Post by 2128778 »

Shortly after Wilder won the WBC title against Stiverne, Shelly Finkel (who was Wilder's manager and was also associated with Wladimir Klitschko) was asked about Wilder's readiness to fight Klitschko (then WBA/IBF, WBO champ) for all the marbles and define Undisputed at HW.

Finkel responded by saying (direct quote): "Look, Wilder is a baby winning the title. It was his first title fight, they'll be a time for unification, they'll be a time for all those things, he could go and Povetkin (the No. 2 contender) in Russia and make $10 million,” Finkel said to the Tuscaloosa News.

Wilder (who already had about 40 pro fights, at the time) would go on to make voluntary defenses against Molina and Duhaupas. Wlad will lose to Fury at the end of 2015.

But let's say, we would've gotten Wlad vs Wilder for all the belts in 2015. Who would've won?

The logical outcome is Wlad jab jab hug hug until he takes Wilder out between the 7th
and 9th round,
But Wlads chin was far from great so a sneaky punch by Wilder could end it at anytime.

I'd pick Wlad but wouldn't be shocked by a Wilder come from behind knock out

Either Wladimir by KO in a fight he dominates with his jab, jab, jab, hold, and wear down tactic. Or Wilder sparks him with a big right hand.

I'd lean heavily toward Wladimir winning this one. He usually was pretty good at defending right hands I don't recall Haye, Povetkin, Pulev, any of his better challengers getting through hardly any meaningful right hands on him.

Sanders, and Brewster both got him with lefts. Wilder ain't got a meaningful left.
