Re: Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez vs. Terence Crawford | NETFLIX - 13 September 2025
i do think crawford has a good style and skillset to beat canelo, but lets be real craw was not that good last fight, that bout with madrimov was even going into the 11th. he is what 38 years old now, it may be a weight and time too far.
i think the fight itself could be dull, but it;'s an interesting match up. for a long time crawford was for me hands down the best fighter in the world, even if he didnt have the best resume. im just not so sure on him right now

Re: Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez vs. Terence Crawford | NETFLIX - 13 September 2025
I think Canelo is gonna beat him because he's the better fighter personally. Aside from being stronger, he also has better defense, takes a punch better, and has better body punching.tigermoth87 wrote: ↑10 Sep 2025, 01:16 Crawford will win the fight, but will he win it by enough to overcome the four round advantage that Canelo has on the cards before every single fight?
Most corrupt fighter in boxing.
This will be a robbery draw, so that the promoters can milk money on a rematch. Guarantee it.
The one advantage Crawford MAYBE has, is that Canelo has more wear and tear on him from hard training camps and hard sparring over the years. He's never had a fight where he's taken a bad beating so I don't feel like he's taken as much damage as you'd expect for a guy with his amount of fights.
Crawford may well be more motivated considering that this is the biggest fight of his career, and it's not necessarily the biggest fight of Canelo's, but Canelo has the incentive that this is his chance to beat one of the Top P4P fighters in the sport which he tried and failed to do many years ago.
Canelo is the bigger man. The more experienced man in big fights. The bigger puncher. The younger man.
He has every single advantage except for possibly hand speed, and Crawford has never exactly been known as a speed demon even as a Lightweight.
Crawford is going to have to fight an absolutely perfect fight here, and I don't know that he can against the best fighter he's ever fought. Canelo may well be too much for him even if they were the same size.
Re: Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez vs. Terence Crawford | NETFLIX - 13 September 2025
I don't think he was ever P4P #1 personally. He's been 2 or 3 for a long time, but if he was ever in the #1 spot he wasn't there long before someone overtook him by doing something more impressive or simply being more active while doing just as well.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑10 Sep 2025, 01:27 i do think crawford has a good style and skillset to beat canelo, but lets be real craw was not that good last fight, that bout with madrimov was even going into the 11th. he is what 38 years old now, it may be a weight and time too far.

i meant best as in most ability. it isnt the same as having the strongest resume, you can think someone is the best but acknowledge other guys have done more. at a time spence had done more than craw, at least as a welterweight, but we saw what happened when they fought.
for me at a time crawford was the most complete fighter in the sport, pretty much elite ability in every area. but yes he didnt have the same run of top wins as others did

Re: Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez vs. Terence Crawford | NETFLIX - 13 September 2025
Yeah I always knew Crawford was gonna kick Spence's ass even though I briefly had Spence over him on my P4P list for accomplishment. I didn't expect it was gonna be as easy as it was for Crawford, but I figured he'd win.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑10 Sep 2025, 01:31 i meant best as in most ability. it isnt the same as having the strongest resume, you can think someone is the best but acknowledge other guys have done more. at a time spence had done more than craw, at least as a welterweight, but we saw what happened when they fought.

If Crawford pulls off a win over Canelo it'd be arguably the most impressive victory in the history of the Super Middleweight division.

Re: Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez vs. Terence Crawford | NETFLIX - 13 September 2025
It’s a weird super fight, theres not even that much hype about it as far as I can tell - unsurprisingly, because it’s not a natural match up by any means, with the weight difference. Turki just fancied it, for the glamour and kudos.
Bud to me has always been unbeatable. I just never think he’s going to lose. So I was initially picking him to win this. But thinking about it, he’s not knocking Canelo out, no way, and with the big weight difference those super middle punches are going to have a significant factor here. Crawford’s been hurt, even down at lightweight ( Gamboa) And when he gets caught, he tends to fire back, which is not going to be a good idea in this one.
There is a chance he could outbox the slowed down Canelo of course, but I’m surprised to see so many people picking him to win here. The bookies still have the Mexican a pretty firm favourite I think.
I was thinking Duran managed to go up with the weights and competed successfully even at 160, although Super middle proved too far, although he was very old by then. And we shouldn't overlook the fact that Canelo the great is probably juicing for this one

A really good post. It is a fascinating fight but hardly any media build up to it. I really rate Crawford and, like you, expect him to win each time.MightyWarrior wrote: ↑10 Sep 2025, 02:54 It’s a weird super fight, theres not even that much hype about it as far as I can tell - unsurprisingly, because it’s not a natural match up by any means, with the weight difference. I think he might just be able to pull it off on points. Canelo can be out boxed. I thought BJS did really well until the facial injury. It will depend if Crawford has BJS' strength. If he has, he can win. If not, it might get tough for him later on.
I see Fernando Vargas Jnr is on the undercard. I've not seen him box before. Will be interesting to see if he boxes in a similar way as his Dad. I still think putting him in with Felix Trinidad when he was so young, was a huge miscalculation.

I'm backing Crawford on points but a draw is a great bet cause I think the judges just might rob Bud.

Canelo has been far more active and ultimately that will make the difference.
Crawford has the skills, but not enough activity and the extra weight is most certainly going to have a negative impact in some aspects of his game.
I wouldn't be surprsed to see Canelo walk him down like he did Saunders.

I dont make any prediction on this. But i am excited. I am big Canelo fan, but his only advantage here is weight. Crawford is everything bad for him. And despite Crawford is 2 years older, he is still at his prime and Canelo is not. Cannot wait for this. No boxing no life

Re: Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez vs. Terence Crawford | NETFLIX - 13 September 2025
Age a big factor for me that’s not being discussed enough. Thought Canelo looked cautious in his last fight. Thought Crawford looked older last time.
With the size also, I’m going Canelo.

TERENCE CRAWFORD DENIES RUMORS OF SHOULDER INJURY, BEING OUT OF SHAPE FOR CANELO FIGHT
Terence Crawford wore a look of disbelief and rotated his shoulders when asked to address one of the prominent rumors related to his showdown with Canelo Alvarez.
Crawford assured a group of reporters that his shoulder isn’t injured after his “grand arrival” Tuesday night at Fontainebleau Las Vegas.
“Where I got a shoulder injury?,” Crawford asked. “I think people coming up with they own antics. ‘Terence Crawford got a shoulder injury. Terence Crawford [is] out of shape. Terence Crawford’s slow.’ … They coming up with all kinds of stuff.”
Fighters typically don’t acknowledge injuries until after fights, but rumors gain momentum immediately in the age of social media. Unfazed, Crawford calmly addressed a lot of speculation Tuesday night regarding his preparation for the biggest fight of his career Saturday night at Allegiant Stadium, including rampant criticism of his physique and how he’ll handle fighting at the highest weight of his career.
“I’m at my natural weight,” Crawford said. “Me bulking up – a lotta people is taking [it] too far in that, ‘Oh, he’s slow. He’s bulked up. This and that. He’s fat, and this and that.’ I don’t care about all that. I just wanna fight.”
Crawford (41-0, 31 KOs), who will turn 38 on September 28, hasn’t boxed higher than the junior middleweight limit of 154 pounds in 17 years as a pro.
The Omaha, Nebraska, native fought only once above the welterweight maximum of 147. He beat Uzbekistan’s Israil Madrimov (10-2-1, 7 KOs) by unanimous decision in that 12-round, 154-pound title fight 13 months ago at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles.
Mexico’s Alvarez (63-2-2, 39 KOs) has competed as high as 175 pounds twice and no lower than 168 since his last 160-pound title defense against Daniel Jacobs in May 2019.
The 5-foot-8 Crawford is slightly taller than Alvarez, though, has a four-inch reach advantage and doesn’t seem smaller than the undisputed super middleweight champion when they stand next to each other.
“I don’t care if he bigger or I’m bigger,” Crawford said. “We still gotta come fight now. That’s the only thing I’m worried about and thinking about. I’m just waiting, counting the days now.”
The odds on their fight have tightened to the point that Alvarez is hardly favored (minus-165/plus-135 according to DraftKings). Alvarez, ranked eighth by The Ring pound-for pound, opened as more than a 2-1 favorite when this 12-round bout with third-ranked Crawford was announced.
Netflix will stream their main event for Alvarez’s Ring, IBF, WBA, WBC and WBO 168-pound crowns. The streaming giant’s three-fight undercard coverage is scheduled to start Saturday at 9 p.m. ET (6 p.m. PT).

Crawford one of my favourite current fighters but unfortunately think he’s bitten off more than he can chew here. Very much hope to be proved wrong.
(Tbh I’ve probably already said exactly that on the thread somewhere but can’t remember and it’s too long to read through)

What will Crawford weigh in at, surely nowhere near the limit ? He didn’t look as sharp as usual at 154 let alone 168. Gonna be hard to lug around an extra 14lbs of muscle on top of that for 36 minutes at 38 years old
Does anyone know the purses they’re getting ?

One judge had the Floyd fight a draw inexplicably against Floyd. Floyd won all 12 rounds i thought. It was more like 9 to 3 or 10 to 2 in the Bivol fight.Nightmare Roy wrote: ↑10 Sep 2025, 17:10Yeah clear shut outs and the scores were still dodgey, didn't one guy give it to Canelo against Floyd? For the most part other than the first 2 Golovkin bouts, Canelo really doesn't have any controversial decisions, usually he wins legit.
