I think that reducing the number of titles at "world" level would give more kudos to such as British and European belts and they would generate more interest (and money) than they currently do.
Don't suppose we'll ever find out because too many rich men stand to lose out if there are big changes unfortunately.
Yep, if it was simply: World, European, (Commonwealth), British, English and the regional belts these would get way more attention.
My dear old Dad could stop turning in his grave if this happened.
Fragmentation of belts put an end to his devotion to boxing.

Yes, like have a dozen Miss Worlds at the same time.

Even the world of beauty pageants wasn't immune to hyperbole, or the opportunity to pocket some more money, but introducing the title of Miss Universe also introduced a ridiculous element to the proceedings.

Even by US showbiz hype standards, that was a completely unnecessary presumption.

It's also fair to say that whilst the winners of the US baseball World Series were likely the best baseball team in the world, it didn't add much when only US teams were competing.

It's one thing to claim you are the best in the world, and also claim the kudos and the riches that go with it, but it's quite another to actually demonstrate it.

And keep on demonstrating it.

In boxing, Inoue and Usyk are the 2 best known examples right now. Maybe Bivol, could be the 3rd.

Even Inoue's critics are beginning to run out of desperate objections as he continues to fight regularly and take on increasingly more difficult challengers.

At some point Inoue, the way his career is going, will have bitten off more than he can chew. Last time out he had to bludgeon Cardenas into submission.

Has he still the power to deliver 1 punch KOs at SBW?

Or Is this that fight?

Press Release - Top Rank to free-stream Inoue vs. Akhmadaliev on its Facebook page

The highly anticipated undisputed world super bantamweight championship showdown between reigning king Naoya Inoue and former two-belt champion Murodjon “MJ” Akhmadaliev, taking place Sunday morning (US time), Sept. 14th at IG Arena in Nagoya, Japan will stream live and exclusively in the U.S. and UK on the Top Rank Facebook channel. The three-fight streaming broadcast begins at 4 a.m. ET/1 a.m. PT/9 a.m. BST, with Inoue and Akhmadaliev expected to make their ring walks at approximately 6:40 a.m. ET/3:40 a.m. PT/11:40 a.m. BST.

Inoue (30-0, 27 KOs) will make the fifth defense of the undisputed title since December 2023, when he knocked out fellow unified champion Marlon Tapales to unify all the belts. This marks the 26th consecutive world title appearance for Inoue, who returns to Japan following May’s stirring eighth-round TKO of Ramon Cardenas at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Akhmadaliev (17-3 including the World Series of Boxing), the WBA interim belt holder, has won three consecutive bouts by stoppage since a split decision defeat to Tapales.

In other streaming action, WBO bantamweight world champion Yoshiki Takei (11-0, 9 KOs) aims to defend his title for a third time when he battles Mexico’s Christian “Chispa” Medina (25-4, 18 KOs) and the vacant WBA regular minimumweight belt will be on the line when Yuni Takada (16-8-3, 6 KOs) fights southpaw standout Ryusei Matsumoto (6-0, 4 KOs).

Whose stupid idea was it to put it not only on Facebook, but only in the UK and US?

It seems like Inoue was tired of getting knocked down, so he decided to box more carefully. That's why the fight went the distance for the first time ever.

But it was a complete and utter domination. I had it 12-0, even though the judges had it closer for whatever reason.

There were some rounds where neither guy did much at all so I could see those rounds going either way.

He has a 3 fight plan. Nakatani was next or one after that. Can’t remember who else.

Sorry, Picasso is December,

Then I think Nakatani.

Finally, Eddie and those Uzbek fans can keep quiet.

And Casimero can fight some of Inoue's leftovers. He hasn't fought anybody ever and doesn't deserve this fight.

Ah, yes. Brain was in Sunday mode. If he can get through Picasso then Nakatani, you'd think Ball might be the next option whichever of them needs to move weightclass for it.

he was sharp and fast, boxed tighter than he did in the fights where he was a bit reckless and got dropped. clearly he respected mj

i do think he could have committed more offensively without it being overly risky though
