Does anyone know the purses they’re getting ?
Crawford $10m Alvarez between $80 and $150 m, not too shabby
Cheers Roy. Christ I had no idea that there was such a disparity in their purses.
I read $50m for Crawford.

Most of them google searches are bullshit. They go off previous purses and guesstimates.

Got a feeling Crawford will absolutely muller Canelo. I'll have a few quid on a Crawford stoppage win at around 12/1 :TU:

You just start to believe in bud. His whole demeanor, he's so cold and threatening but cool at the same time. He slowly became my favorite fighter after been lukewarm on him at first. Thinking back Bob Arum did such a s**t job promoting him. He got the titles but this guy should have been a much bigger draw.

Fancy the draw here. 14/1. Fancy a flash Knockdown at some point (Crawford touches down) but rest of the fight to be mostly Crawford- gets screwed over on cards and then the rematch is even bigger. Think Crawford will switch and up his output.

I dont think we can say that Crawford has slipped yet of the back of one fight once removed from possibly his best performance. There is more evidence that Canelo has. Bivol interrupted that scary 168/175 run of Kov, smith, BJS, plant. Since then he hasn't looked as good and cant get the KOs. S**t against Skull and the Berilnga, Mungia fights haven't aged well. Also more evidence that canelo is beatable albeit only against the elite (which Crawford is)- Bivol, GGG (at least once) + Mayweather with the odd sketchy one thrown in.

Weird that this hasn't been promoted to hell and back - this being Dana White's first major outing into boxing. It is almost a a dress rehearsal for his relationship with Turki - but yet it's hardly being mentioned. Darren Till calling out Carl Froch has had more news in UK media.

Just flush your dough down the toilet, Canelo probably has the best chin in boxing right now. GGG didn't put a dent in him in 36 rounds and neither has anyone else for that matter, have you seen his neck, he will walk through anything Crawford can throw.

The win and loss to Kovalev & Bivol at Light heavyweight also suggest it will take something extraordinary to inflict a genuine stoppage on Álvarez.

TERENCE CRAWFORD: LOSING WOULDN'T TARNISH MY LEGACY, I'M A FIRST BALLOT HALL-OF-FAMER

LAS VEGAS – Canelo Alvarez seemingly has more to lose Saturday night than Terence Crawford.

The iconic Mexican champion already has two losses and two draws on his record. He’ll also earn a nine-figure purse for facing Crawford.

But if Alvarez is beaten by a 37-year-old opponent who moved up two weight classes to challenge him, the undisputed super middleweight champion’s legacy would be damaged. Crawford is widely viewed as a smaller man and has boxed above the welterweight limit of 147 pounds only once.

The mere idea of Crawford challenging Alvarez wasn’t even entertained by Alvarez or the paying public with any seriousness just a couple years ago.

While Crawford’s perfect record is at stake, if he loses to a perceived bigger man who has won world titles in each of the three divisions above the highest weight at which Crawford has fought, well, that’s what should have happened.

Crawford doesn’t agree with those prevailing perceptions of how this result should shape their legacies.

“First and foremost, I’m definitely gonna win,” Crawford told a group of reporters Wednesday at Fontainebleau Las Vegas. “I’m winning this fight for sure. But at the same time, I don’t think losing tarnish me or Canelo’s legacy. You know, I think Canelo’s a first-ballot Hall-of-Famer. You know, and I think that I’m a first-ballot Hall-of-Famer.

“So win, lose or draw, both of us going in the Hall of Fame. And I think that’s the ultimate goal at the end of the day, you know, to be named with all the great fighters that came before us, to be inducted into the Hall of Fame for all that we done in the sport of boxing.”

Alvarez (63-2-2, 39 KOs) and Crawford (41-0, 31 KOs) are surefire first-ballot Hall-of-Fame fighters.

Crawford clearly can enhance his standing in boxing history, however, more than Alvarez by winning their 12-round fight for Alvarez’s Ring, IBF, WBA, WBC and WBO super middleweight titles.

A victory would make the Omaha, Nebraska native an undisputed champion in a third division, unprecedented for a male boxer in the four-belt era. Becoming a champion in a fifth division overall would be a rare accomplishment as well.

Crawford’s opinion of Alvarez’s legacy notwithstanding, he realizes there are legions of boxing observers unconvinced that he is capable of upsetting Alvarez in a main event Netflix will stream globally.

“I think people is underestimating everything about me, but that doesn’t matter,” Crawford said. “You know, we got a fight here Saturday and all the [questions] will be answered that night.”

Alvarez is a marginal favorite versus Crawford, according to DraftKings (-165/+135). Netflix’s undercard coverage is set to begin at 9 p.m. ET and 6 p.m. PT from Allegiant Stadium.

I've gone with a Canelo TKO late on, rounds 9-11. I want Crawford to do it but just can't see it. Most of the boxers I've heard asked have said Crawford though. He can't do a Bivol for the full 12 rounds as his defence isn't as good, and once he's taken a few big Canelo shots it'll be a matter of time. Hope he proves me wrong :box:

I'll be curious to see if Crawford has the determination to not accept that he's behind on cards, and start going for broke trying to make something happen or if he just falls into that cruising to a decision loss mode that so many do.

Surprised to see that Crawford is an inch taller and has a 4inch reach advantage, I know Canelo is a lot thicker set but there’s not the size difference I anticipated. It’s an interesting match up, I am looking forward to this although there’s no way I’ll manage to stay awake. I’ll likely buy it and then fall asleep whilst the cars watch it. They’ve watched some cracking PPVs on their own, really clued up cats where boxing is concerned.

White in fiery exchange with reporter in Vegas

UFC chief Dana White's fiery exchange with a reporter about his new role in boxing threatened to overshadow a news conference for the super-fight between Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez and Terence Crawford.

Mexican Alvarez, 35, will put his WBA (Super), WBC, WBO and IBF super-middleweight titles on the line against Crawford at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on Saturday.

Omaha-native Crawford, 37, is jumping up two weight classes in a bid to become the first male boxer to become undisputed champion in three divisions in the modern era.

In front of a fiercely pro-Alvarez crowd, the pair went through the usual news conference motions, a mixture of respect and declarations of victory.

But the mood turned sharper when focus turned towards White, who was chairing proceedings and promoting his first boxing event since announcing his Saudi Arabian-backed venture into the sport.

Questions raised about the Muhammad Ali Act - a 2000 US law designed to protect boxers' rights and combat potential monopolies - sparked a fiery response from White.

"This is obviously a long discussion. If you want to talk about that then set up an interview. This isn't about me," White said.

When the reporter, Sean Zittel, persisted, White cut him short: "You have a question for these two, no? Beat it."

White is spearheading a push to amend the act, which does not apply to MMA, allowing the UFC to make their own world titles.

Critics argue White's UFC model in boxing would restrict fighters with exclusive contracts, create a monopoly and leaves boxers earning a far smaller share of event revenue.

As the reporter pressed White, Alvarez chanted "fight, fight, fight".

A trainer who is working with Canelo Álvarez advertised performance-enhancing drugs for sale, including human growth hormone, before he joined the super-middleweight boxer’s team, the Guardian can reveal.

Canelo younger and bigger than Bud, obviously doesn’t want to take any chances on the nutrition side either.

There is ass licking and then there's Max Kellerman

Canelo Alvarez trades words with Max Kellerman in boxing vs MMA

Max Kellerman says Dana White will be the man to make boxing great again.

During yesterday’s final press conference for tomorrow’s undisputed super heavyweight title fight between Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford, commentator Max Kellerman hosted the festivities. During his address to the public Kellerman would spend a decent amount of time glazing Turki Alalshikh and then specifically Dana White, who he says boxing fans should be grateful to because he will be the one to grow the sport in a major league.

“Let me start with [Alalshikh] because if he’s never born, none of us are here right now,” Kellerman would say. “This was his idea! And then Dana White. Dana White is the greatest combat sports promoter in my lifetime. He built an institution. You know why boxing’s not as popular as it used to be anymore, right? UFC is really popular, that’s because of Dana White. He built something like the NBA.”

That drew some boos from the crowd before Kellerman tried to quickly hush them.

“Stop [the boos] now because he’s about to do it for boxing again,” Kellerman said. “You want an NBA or an NFL in boxing? Here it comes, because he knows how to build an institution…”

Kellerman’s description would catch the attention of Canelo, who interjected to stop Kellerman in his tracks.

“Hey, Max. Boxing is always bigger, bigger, and big,” Canelo shot back. “Don’t say boxing is not big enough. Boxing is big. You know how big is boxing…Maybe it’s going to be bigger but look, boxing is always big and big and bigger and bigger and bigger. We need to talk about that, too. Boxing is boxing. My respect for the other sport. Great job, everything, but boxing is boxing.”

Kellerman would play deferential in the moment while shifting his attention back to the magnitude of the event and the quality you can expect from those bringing it to you. Catch the full exchange in the video link at the top.

Crawford is so huge how the hell did Ricky Burns go the distance with him,

Canelo is too old and plodding now. Crawford picks his way to a comfortable decision. Bivol better than both of them.
