It just doesnt seem real. Honestly thought, despite his troubles, he'd be a character we'd grow old with. He had so much going for him, its, obviously, just so fcuking tragic.

RIP Ricky. An absolute legend.

Incredibly sad, I took his Boxing Fitness instructor course 6 years ago when I was at an all time low in my life, it changed everything for me and helped turned my life around, although I’m no longer working under the Hatton banner it was an important experience for me to get where I am now which is 1to1 padwork sessions full time, he really did have far reaching influence that he might not have been aware of, I’ll be forever grateful x

Never forgot mayweather, in a clear moment of awe and jealousy, telling hatton right after the ko "listen to this, your fans love you" as the british fans kept chanting for him after he lost

Rip to a one of kind fighter and human

Wow, I was in denial when I read the thread title.
I sort of still am.
Tremendous fighter, I've even gone back over some of his fights on YouTube after he retired.
It's going to take a while to sink in. :verysad:

RIP Hitman. He truly popularised boxing and drove huge activity on this and other forums in the early 2Ks. May he rest in peace and condolences to his family.

A true English sporting legend that was loved by many.. He always fought fiercely in the ring and had the crowd behind him. There was always an army of Hatton fans on fight night. I was a big fan myself and was gutted to see him lose against mayweather, pacquiao.

RIP buddy.

Went to see him fight Castillo and then Mayweather in Vegas. Both trips are amongst my favorite memories from that time.

I very much doubt if a fighter from the UK will ever take such a following to the States again in my lifetime.

Rip Ricky, thanks for the memories and condolences to your loved ones. You will be missed more than you could ever have imagined.

She suggested we had a weekend away to try and sort things out.

I agreed, and she was pleased when I told her I'd booked us a nice hotel in Manchester.

However she didn't seem as happy when we got there and I revealed I had two tickets for Hatton v Freddie Pendleton.

Great night of boxing but I was thrown out the house soon after and lost everything.

Took me a while to get going again but now married to a brilliant woman for 19 years. Always owed Ricky for that!
Love that story, and I reckon Ricky would have too

Terrible, he must have been in such a bad place. He couldn't see how much he was still loved by everyone

No Hatton, no boxing boom in the 2000's he set up the whole scene the likes of Joshua capitalised on.

While this may well be true, and i don't know this individual, so i cant say for sure.

But suicides/murders or other sudden deaths do tend to attract more people.

These deaths throw off what we usually expect. They're unexpected, can be really complicated in how we feel, and make people want to gather and support each other.

Just an example now, Had Hatton lived to 60+ years, it wouldn't have been this much of a shock.

Oh my goodness; that's beyond tragic.

It just goes to show that you never know what's going on in a person's mind.

If you ever came across Ricky socially, he was always happy and chatty and he always had time for fans, be it selfies, autographs or a chat.

He'll be so badly missed. :verysad: :verysad:
