What a wild slugfest that one is!
Incredible, I knew Echols won in 3 but never knew it was a crazy tear up, stoppage was poor though especially considering Echols was down 3 times in the 2nd

It's funny how many great fights just kinda go under the radar like that. And yeah I agree it was a poor stoppage. The one downside of an otherwise great fight.

Shame they never had a rematch.

Joe Calzaghe vs Charles Brewer
120-108 Calzaghe

Sven Ottke vs Charles Brewer
115-113 Ottke

Sven Ottke vs Charles Brewer 2
116-111 Ottke

I'm surprised especially that the 2nd Brewer bout was a Split Decision. I can see it with the first one.

Joe Calzaghe vs Robin Reid
I had it 115-112 Calzaghe, Reid did himsel no favors getting a point deduction for the low blow.

Sven Ottke vs Robin Reid
114-113 Ottke

The Bias referee is all over Reid's case in the fight with Ottke. If Ottke lunges in with his head, Reid is given a warning, and at one point a point deduction.

After the first 4 rounds I had Reid up 4-0, but his corner tells him he's behind, and needs a KO, and rather than motivating him this seems to dishearten him, and he starts sleepwalking through the fight from this moment on. He wins another few rounds, one of them is even because he gets a point deduction, and I have him losing by 1 point in the end.

Reid gave a good showing in both bouts.

I was at that fight, there were a lot of boos when Calzaghe got the nod.

I can see why. The rounds Reid won were the more memorable rounds. That kinda thing will tend to put the crowd on your side if it's close.

Oscar De La Hoya vs Pernell Whitaker
Oscar De La Hoya vs Felix Trinidad
Oscar De La Hoya vs Shane Mosley 2

The 3 closest calls in the career of De La Hoya.

I had them 114-113 De La Hoya vs Whitaker
115-113 De La Hoya vs Trinidad
114-114 vs Mosley in the rematch.

All 3 fights could've went either way.

De La Hoya vs Narciso Valenzuela (this is the first time De La Hoya ever gets dropped. A fun 1 round slugfest)

Tim Witherspoon vs Pinklon Thomas

I'm surprised it was a Majority Decision. I thought Thomas beat him quite comfortably.

Witherspoon vs Tony Tubbs

Could've went either way. It went Spoony's way.

Greg Page vs David Bey

Bey gets a Unanimous Decision, I personally had it 7 rounds to 5 for Page, but I can't argue much with the decision since Page let off the gas, and allowed Bey to take over down the stretch. You don't want to give away the late rounds in a close fight.

Tim Witherspoon vs Greg Page
Tim Witherspoon vs Greg Page 2 (These guys actually have a much better fight when they're old men)
Tim Witherspoon vs Carl "The Truth" Williams - Spoon was lucky to get this decision I thought, very close.
Pinklon Thomas vs Mike Weaver (Really fun Heavyweight fight)
