Roy Jones Jr. versus Roberto Duran

Post by goose 5 »

12 rounds, 160 in 1989. Would it be too soon for novice pro, Jones ?

Roy could've beaten Duran from the moment he made his Pro debut. No doubt about it.

Now if you're able to rewind time, and make it the Roberto Duran from 1983, I don't like Roy's chances too much, but if it's the 1989 version of Duran, yes Roy is always too much for him.

I agree. Would the 1993 Jones knock out the 1983 Duran ?

1989 would be too soon for Jones to face Duran who may school him for a decision after countering Jones' punches with punches on the body and head. If they faced in 1993, Jones would be too much for Duran to handle by outboxing and outpunching him for a decision win or stopping him late.

Roy Jones, Jr was too fast at 160lbs. He beats Duran at any era, any time, at middleweight which wasn't Duran's best weight.

Just to be clear: I'm not suggesting a 1993 match in real time. I'm proposing a mythical match between the 1983 Duran and the 1993 Jones.

He'd probably stop him some sorta way.
