The Worst Fighter With The Three Best Names On His Record

Post by keithmoonhangover »

We usually talk about Ali's achievement of having Liston, Foreman and Frazier or SRL beating Duran, Hearns and Hagler.

But which fighter who was never world level has wins over the best three names?

Pat Lawlor beat Rene Arredondo, Roberto Duran and Wilfred Benitez.

Darnell Boone (24-28-6) worth a shout, stopped Adonis Stevenson (19-0) and outpointed Willie Monroe Jr (10-0). No real other big wins but beat a few other undefeated prospects so I guess you could add one these to his list. Plus he dropped Andre Ward and lost a SD to an undefeated Kovalev. Not bad going for someone with a losing record. 24 of his 58 fights were against unbeaten opponents. Clearly not a bad fighter though and his wins were against decent undefeated fighters as opposed to fighters past their best.

Don't know if he was the worst fighter but how about Johnny Risko?
Career record was 69-46-3.
Had wins over Tommy Loughran, Mickey Walker, Jack Delaney, Max Baer, Jack Sharkey, and George Godfrey.

Yeah, I mean, it was only 2 years after Duran beat Barkley, so all things considered, it was a decent win.

LC Morgan. He beat Carlos "Morocho" Hernandez, Battling Torres, Eddie Perkins, Don Jordan and the greatest win of his career against Jose "Mantequilla" Napoles.

Larry Donald certainly isn't a particularly memorable guy, but he has wins over Evander Holyfield, Tim Witherspoon and take your pick as to what his 3rd best is between Bert Cooper, Ross Purritty and Tyrell Biggs.

I know he's got a decent record numbers wise, but he was never much more than a footnote at any point in his career.
