Hasim Rahman vs Andrew Golota (2005)

Post by 2128778 »

Rahman was the only Don King's beltholder of mid-2000, that Golota hasn't faced.

Let's look at the scenario (as bizarre as it was), that King gets Golota his 4th consecutive (!) title shot.

Plot: after drawing with Byrd (IBF), losing narrowly (and controversially) to Ruiz (WBA) and getting blown away in a round by Brewster (WBO), Golota finds himself in King's good grace again and receives a fight against Rahman for the WBC interim title (the winner will be promoted to full champion status, in light of Vitali Klitschko's injuries).

In August of 2005, Golota was supposed to fight Przemyslaw Saleta on the undercard of Hasim Rahman-Monte Barrett fight for the WBC interim title. That would've been Golota's 2nd consecutive fight in Chicago, after losing to Brewster there just 3 months prior. However, Golota would later withdraw from the card.

Let's imagine, that something would've happened and somehow (due to Don King's connections with WBC) Golota finds himself in the main event against Rahman, instead of Barrett.

How would Rahman-Golota go?
