Dmitry Bivol vs Joe Calzaghe

Post by 2128778 »

Bivol of 2025 (from Beterbiev 2 fight) puts his 4 belts on the line against Calzaghe of 2008 (his LHW version from Hopkins and Jones fights, who claimed Ring LHW belt).

How it goes and who comes out on top?

Would be a close fight that could go either way. I'd favor Bivol because he's a natural Light Heavy and Calzaghe only came there for his final few fights. Neither is a knockout puncher, but Bivol would probably have a strength advantage that would be a drain on Calzaghe's stamina.

Honestly as high as we are on Bivol at the moment I don't really look for him to have an especially stellar career. Even in his biggest wins they tend to be kinda close decisions, that usually doesn't suggest a guy that's going to have a lengthy reign. He'll probably wind up being like a Chad Dawson, a guy that had a few good years and got some big wins nothing too spectacular, but a good run for a short while.

Calzaghe who fought his best at super middleweight as Bivol would outbox him behind his jabs and combinations on the outside to take a decision.

And even though I'm picking Bivol here, I will say it's quite possible I'm guilty of underestimating what Calzaghe was capable of yet again. Wouldn't be the first time.
