They have ruined a 103 year old publication. Let's call it, it's done in so far as not being another promotional arm of the regime.
All it is these days, is Turki this, Turki that

He's using the magazine for his own agenda, which im nor surprised at.

Hope the people who were defending him start to wise up.

I just bought the September issue of The Ring for a tenner. Most of the ads are for businesses in Saudi Arabia, which I can't imagine many boxing fans will be using.

Content is ok, and there's a decent Loma poster included. It was always the poor relation to BM and BN in my eyes anyway. Print and paper quality are top level though.

They don't like or welcome dissent. Punish it quite often.

I don't remember Boxing Journalism or writers being particularly important at any time in the last several years anyway. I mean what do we need them to say anyway? That a decision we disagreed with was bad? That a Champion may be a Paper Champion?

Don't we all already say that amongst ourselves?

Exactly the reason I walked away from boxing journalism. Nobody should be more relevant than the boxers. That includes the ring announcers

So? They're not. We know that.

I'm not sure how or what you could censor a Boxing journalist from saying. Most of them are usually biased as hell on their own.

But boxing journalists tell the stories of boxers, and make sure their careers reach the widest audience possible.

Writing their opinions has got Boxing Scene banned from Riyadh Season fights. They can go to the public press conferences and weighins but that's it. Its 100% censorship.

The threat carries to other outlets that self-censor as a result, or face the same fate as BS. The risk of losing the beloved views is too great.

That’s a great article, good journalist, and he should definitely avoid going on holiday in Saudi Arabia any time soon.

So his most Excellent Excellency Turki became the most powerful figure in world boxing because he was the Saudi rulers best PlayStation buddy. I bet that causes Frank a few shoulder rolls

Can’t people say no to him?

I don’t understand why they can’t.

All these sports and promoters, etc just happily taking their money.

He is putting loads into different pies.
DAZN wasn't his only platform receiving funds. But I bet they thought at the time they were :OhYes:
When you artificially inflate the market with money unsustainable by traditional revenue streams, they become dependent.
Then take a big portion of the media, and shut out the ones you don't like.
Classic stuff.
