The stylist from Slough, Hamzah Sheeraz (22-0-1, 18 KOs), is being lined up for an all-British showdown with European super-middleweight champion Callum Simpson (18-0, 13 KOs).

The 26-year-old Sheeraz from Slough’s first title shot attempt fell to the wayside after a lacklustre performance against WBC middleweight champion Carlos Adams saw him leave the ring empty-handed.

The world title contender’s power and speed are undeniable, but he has yet to prove he has the goods when in the ring with some of boxing’s best.

He has since somewhat bounced back, with a merciless finish over Edgar Berlanga after making the move up to 168 lbs.

Saudi boxing kingpin Turkish Alalshikh had promised that a win over Berlanga would set the young Briton up with a huge showdown against Mexican legend Canelo Alvarez in 2026.

However, with the 35-year-old’s hands currently tied as he prepares for a mammoth PPV clash against Terence Crawford, Sheeraz seems keen to stay active as he awaits the call-up.

“The interim fight is against Callum Simpson,” manager Spencer Brown told Boxing News. “I think it’s an exciting fight; I think that Callum’s a great fighter.

“I think Callum Simpson is a bit behind Hamzah Sheeraz, with everything – he doesn’t bang as hard as Hamzah, but he can fight.

“I’d love to see that fight; I think it would be a big fight in England. [But] we can’t have talks until we find out what happens with Canelo, because the Canelo fight has been promised to Hamzah.

“I don’t know what’s going to happen – Crawford might come in and ruin the whole party. If that happens, I would like to see Hamzah against Callum on the undercard of [Eubank-Benn 2].”

Chris Eubank Jr. and Conor Benn are set to meet again on November 15 at the Tottenham Hotspur Arena.

Their first meeting proved that entertainment runs in the family, with both men going to war over a twelve-round showstopping affair earlier in the year.

Eubank edged his younger counterpart on points; however, Benn’s heart and desire kept him close to the seasoned Middleweight and set him up nicely for a second crack at the outspoken 35-year-old.

CALLUM SIMPSON, HAMZAH SHEERAZ IN TALKS, ACCORDING TO EBU

Callum Simpson is in talks with Hamzah Sheeraz for an all-British super middleweight fight, according to the EBU.

The two sides have until October 28 to come to an agreement. If they fail, then the fight will go to a purse bid.

Simpson (18-0, 13 knockouts) holds the 168-pound EBU title.

"It is a top contest between two unbeaten champions, and the EBU is happy about the first class quality of that championship fight," EBU President Peter Stucki told The Ring.

Simpson won the EBU title in an exciting off-the-floor stoppage of Ivan Zucco (TKO 10) on June 7 in his hometown of Barnsley.

He had been linked with former EBU 168-pound titlist Kevin Lele Sadjo. However, Sadjo recently secured a fight with Diego Pacheco, which will headline Matchroom's Dec. 13 Show.

That left the path clear for another former European champion, Sheeraz (22-0-1, 18 KOs), who earlier in his career held the middleweight version.

Sheeraz is coming off his super middleweight debut, in which he iced Edgar Berlanga (KO 5) on July 12. He has aspirations of facing Alvarez, but that's on hold while the Mexican star recovers from surgery.

Simpson has been a professional since June 2019. He beat Boris Crighton (UD 10) in July 2023 and then bested Mexican tough guy Jose Macias (UD 10) three months later.

The 28-year-old arrived when he claimed the British and Commonwealth titles by beating Zac Chelli (UD 12) last August and made one defense before levelling up by beating Zucco.

Sheeraz turned professional at 18 and served his apprenticeship at home in the UK before deciding to work with Ricky Funez at the Ten Goose gym in Los Angeles for a period of time. It is no coincidence that he has evolved into a much more complete fighter since struggling with Bradley Skeete in December 2021, coming on late to secure a ninth-round stoppage that night.

The tall boxer-puncher knocked off former world title challenger Liam Williams (TKO 1) last February, stopped then-unbeaten contender Austin Williams (TKO 11) last June and demolished the usually durable Tyler Denny in two rounds for the European title three months later.

However, he struggled when fighting Carlos Adames for the WBC 160-pound world title in February and appeared fortunate to get a 12-round split draw. That prompted a move to super middleweight, where he has linked up with Andy Lee in Ireland.

Just not a huge Simpson fan, as a fighter anyway. He's a great lad maximising what he has but i think his ceiling is about where he is now.

HAMZAH SHEERAZ WANTS U.S. RETURN FOR NEXT FIGHT, TARGETING 'BIG, BIG NAMES'

Hamzah Sheeraz enjoyed his American coming-out party so much that he has set his sights on doing more damage across the pond in 2026.

Sheeraz (22-0-1, 18 KOs) announced himself in a big way at super middleweight by stopping Edgar Berlanga in five rounds on July 12 in the main event of The Ring III at Louis Armstrong Stadium in Flushing, New York.

The fight was Sheeraz's first in the U.S. and came five months after his controversial split draw with WBC middleweight champion Carlos Adames.

The pressure and the stakes were high, but the Ilford man rose to the occasion and now he wants to do it all over again.

"A million percent," he told The Ring's Louis Hart when asked about returning to the States for a big fight. "It'd be an honour to share the ring with those guys.

"Don't get me wrong, I'll go in there with every intention to completely destroy that person, but at the same time these names you just mentioned [Jermall Charlo, Caleb Plant, Jaime Munguia, Jose Armando Resendiz], they're great fighters, big fighters in America and an honour for myself to go in there and continue to prove what I can do in the 168-pound division.

"My mindset is I want to fight these fighters from America or these big, big, big names. Fighters who, when you put my name with them, I'm down as an underdog."

Sheeraz was initially in line to take on former Ring and undisputed super middleweight champion Canelo Alvarez next year, but the Mexican's defeat to Terence Crawford, and subsequent elbow surgery, have nixed those plans.

The 26-year-old still wants to return to the ring in the next four months, however, and could do so with a super middleweight title on the line, if Crawford vacates a belt or two.

For now, he has to wait.

"Hopefully February," he added. "It'll be nice to get out again, we'll see what allegedly and His Excellency [Turki Alalshikh] say, we'll see what the team says and I'll just continue to keep working hard."
