Moses Itauma’s opponent for December 13 in Manchester could be finalised this week but it will not be Derek Chisora, despite the fight being 'explored'.
Promoter allegedly confirmed last month that the 20-year-old sensation will headline Co-op Live Arena, Manchester in Queensberry's major pre-Christmas show.
They have been working hard on securing Itauma a top-level opponent after he crushed Dillian Whyte inside two minutes of his last outing.
Meanwhile Derek Chisora uploaded a video to his social media revealing that he will also be part of the Dec. 13 show, prompting suggestions the 41-year-old’s 50th fight might be against Itauma.
But, during an interview with The Ring, the duo’s promoter Warren ruled out the chances of them facing each other that night but confirmed that it had emerged as an option.
“There’s no chance as it stands,” Warren said. “It was explored, yes, but there were no legs in it. In an ideal world we want them both to box on that night.”
Warren remained tight-lipped on the plans for the show, insisting that Queensberry are working hard for the event to be rubber-stamped this week after their initial plans ‘fell apart’.
He added: “We want that one to be finalised this week. We want to get it done.
“We thought we had it done. What we were working on sort of fell apart but we are back to work on it. We will see what happens.”
Itauma (13-0, 11 KOs) is currently The Ring’s No.9 ranked heavyweight and is in the top five with all four major sanctioning bodies as a result of his success over the first two and a half years of his professional career.
But while things have been going to plan inside the ring, trying to lure credible opponents into a fight with him has not been so simple.
There have been few contenders willing to risk their position against a young puncher who has not been extended beyond two rounds in his previous nine fights.
“Never in all my time in boxing have I had difficulty matching a 20-year-old,” Warren said. “Ever.
“But it’s because of where we are with the heavyweight scene at the moment; Oleksandr Usyk holds all four belts and nobody is sure what he’s going to do.
“Is he going to defend? Is he going to vacate? Everyone is jostling for position so we are trying to make the right matches for Moses at the right time. I had one manager asking for $3.5 million for the fight, which is totally nuts. What planet are these people on?
“But Moses will get his time and if he wins a world title then they will be queuing up to fight him. That’s how it works and I’d rather it be my problem than somebody else’s.”

Chisora-AJ is the fight to make, although probably not on that date. Yes, they're mates. but that fight would do a stadium.

Zhilei Zhang calls for fight with fellow heavyweight veteran Derek Chisora
Chinese heavyweight Zhilei Zhang has called for a showdown with British veteran Derek Chisora.
“I’m thinking about someone,” Zhang (27-3-1, 22 KOs) said in an Instagram video before old footage of Chisora and him talking at ringside began to play.
Over the top of the George Michael ballad “Careless Whisper”, Zhang looked into the camera and spoke directly to Chisora (36-13, 23 KOs).
“I want to fight you," he said. "I want to bang you. Maybe you want to bang me, too.”
It is believed that Chisora will make his 50th – and supposedly final – professional appearance at Manchester’s Co-Op Live Arena on December 13. Undefeated Moses Itauma (13-0, 11 KOs) is scheduled to headline the event. At the time of writing, neither man has an opponent confirmed.
Last February, Chisora, 41, rolled back the years and dominated Otto Wallin over 12 rounds, but his hopes of securing an unlikely world title shot before calling time on his near 19 year-long career have been dealt a significant blow.
The No. 1 position in the IBF’s heavyweight rankings is vacant, but while Chisora sits at No. 2, the governing body recently announced that former champion Daniel Dubois (22-3, 21 KOs) will take on Cuba’s Frank Sanchez (25-1, 18 KOs) in the final eliminator.
Zhang’s schedule is currently empty. He hasn’t boxed since suffering a sixth round stoppage at the hands of Agit Kabayel last February.
The 42-year-old, who stopped former WBC titleholder Deontay Wilder in June of last year, has been competing at the highest level of heavyweight boxing for the past few years and won’t want to take too big of a backward step.
Zhang is no stranger to British shores. In 2023 he recorded back-to-back victories over Joe Joyce in London. Chisora remains an incredibly popular figure and his high world ranking would also make him an attractive option for Zhang.

Re: Derek Chisora vs. TBA | DAZN - 13 December 2025
Zhilei Zhang awaits Derek Chisora signature: 'We accepted the fight three weeks ago'
Zhilei Zhang has been waiting over three weeks for Derek Chisora to sign his part of the deal for a fight this December in Manchester, England.
The bill in Manchester is slated for December 13, with Chisora supporting a DAZN pay-per-view double-header alongside rising heavyweight star Moses Itauma. The bout would be Chisora’s 50th professional contest, and – if we are to take his word for it – his last. The Londoner’s last bout, which was misguidedly billed as his ‘Last Dance’ in the UK, also took place in Manchester, against Sweden’s Otto Wallin back in February. The Londoner picked up a unanimous decision victory to set up a meaningful encounter for his swansong.
Zhang’s advisor Terry Lane has revealed that they were contacted by allegedly’s Queensberry Promotions for Zhang, 27-3-1 (22 KOs), to be Chisora’s opponent in his final contest. Zhang, who has not fought since his defeat to Agit Kabayel in February, accepted the offer to face 41-year-old Chisora, 36-13 (23 KOs), on the proposed date of December 13 in Manchester, but is still waiting on the 41-year-old Chisora’s signature
“We've been very quiet about it because our team and Zhang himself, we're just not ones to rush to social media,” Lane explained to Boxing Scene, “but we were presented with the fight [over three weeks ago] and we accepted a couple of days. So it's been well over three weeks since the fight has been accepted on our end, in principle.”
Zhang, 42, took to social media yesterday (October 14) to entice his rival into putting pen to paper.

“Queensberry wants to make the fight. DAZN [the broadcaster] really like the fight,” said Lane. “It was a twin bill with Moses Itauma as kind of a co-main event situation on a pay-per-view. So we said yes, basically pretty quickly, and it just got to a point where we kind of felt like we needed to speak up in recent days. That's why you're kind of seeing this stuff come out now.”
Chisora took to social media earlier this week displaying three potential opponents and asking fans who he should face in his 50th and final contest. Zhang was not featured on the post, instead Deontay Wilder, Dillian Whyte, and Jarrell Miller were the three opponents teased by Chisora.
“I know that two of those opponents are not going to work out,” Lane said. “I mean, look, I've been wrong before, so I can't say anything in boxing. You can't say anything with any certainty, but I just don't think that two of those fights are in the running. One of them might be, but what I'm hearing on my end is that the fight that the powers that be want to make is Zhang versus Chisora. So it's kind of up to Chisora to say yes or no to it. But if he says no, I don't know what direction they would go in, but we would move on and probably focus back on [fighting in] China again [in January].”
Lane believes the only viable opponent out of the three listed by Chisora would be American Jarrell Miller, who was due to face Fabio Wardley on a Queensberry bill back in June only to pull out.

They should both retire regardless .. but Al history teens most the time.. the winner likes to go out for one final payday.

Chisora Vs Miller press conference will be entertaining. The fight itself will be a lot of punches that look like they would hurt doing not a lot of concussive damage. I predict Chisora by decision. How many others will sign to fight Chisora?

Expect lots of bitching between them and some water being thrown , possibly a bit of a push, a table may get damaged and hurty words spoke.
Oh and they'll eat a burger after the fight.

I would have preferred Miller to face someone else who is on the rise.
He is durable enough to give any young lion a good few rounds.
Shame to be wasted on a multi millionaire's vanity farewell.

Re: Derek Chisora vs. TBA | DAZN - 13 December 2025
Jarrell Miller is the frontrunner to become Derek Chisora’s next opponent
On the same weekend that Danny Garcia admitted to being “eighty-five per cent” sure his win against Daniel Gonzalez was his last professional fight, Derek Chisora was linked with a new opponent for his 50th and maybe last professional fight.
With Chisora, of course, you never really know. You never know what he is up to generally and you never know when last actually means last. After all, we were told back in February that his fight against Otto Wallin, which he won by decision, was his so-called “Last Dance”; meaning his final fight in Britain. Only now, eight months on, we realise that that was not the case. Now, with a fight scheduled for December 13 in Manchester, Chisora, 41, is clearly still active and again on the hunt for opponents.
One man with whom he has been linked of late is Zhilei Zhang, the 42-year-old southpaw from China who was last seen losing inside six rounds against Agit Kabayel in February. That, on paper, would seem a decent enough fight for Chisora, given their ages are similar, yet Zhang’s style – left-handed, counterpunching, notoriously difficult – may not be a style suited to Chisora if he plans on giving fans what they usually expect when he fights: action, “WAR”, etcetera.
Someone like Jarrell Miller, on the other hand, could be more to Chisora’s liking. In fact, in the last 24 hours Miller, a 37-year-old from New York, has emerged as the frontrunner to become Chisora’s next opponent and, if he gets the gig, it would make a lot of sense.
For one, Miller, unlike Zhang, is a native English speaker and speaks better than most in the sport. Two, he is prone to bursts of unpredictability and volatility, a lot like Chisora. Three, he comes with a certain infamy and a bad-boy reputation, both the result of the many drug tests he has failed in the past.
Indeed, Miller, 26-1-2 (22 KOs), first rose to prominence in the UK when a 2019 world heavyweight title fight with Anthony Joshua collapsed on account of Miller failing more than one drug test (for GW1516, Human Growth Hormone, and EPO). Since then, he has fought five times and, as is often the case in boxing, has been welcomed back with open arms; his notoriety now a selling point for promoters. In his last fight, back in August 2024, Miller fought to a draw with Andy Ruiz Jnr at the BMO Stadium in Los Angeles. Before that he was stopped in 10 rounds by Britain’s Daniel Dubois. Both times he made good money.
The same will be true should he get the nod to fight Derek Chisora in December, one suspects. He will also perform his usual shtick – that is, talk a good fight – and give Chisora, 36-13 (23 KOs), precisely what he wants, both before and during the fight. In that respect, it is easy to see why “Big Baby” Miller is, despite his various transgressions, still being treated with kid gloves and still receiving treats.
