Light-middle Tournament - Round One
Light-middle Tournament - Round One
Well back in the old days this might have worked so we'll see how it does in todays Boxrec forum.
Light-middle is a loaded division. I've picked eight bouts with 16 fighters (obviously). Most of the top boys are here & I threw in a couple of fun ones.
I apologise if I missed your favourite.
Please pick the fighters you think will win each bout. You have eight votes each & voting runs until next Sunday then we'll go to the next round.
I've included some fights that are already made or rumoured to be made.
Ennis v Samake
Fundora v Thurman
Ramos v Adams
Ortiz v Lubin
Murtazaliev v Kelly
Baraou v Bohachuk
Madrimov v Katzourakis
Zayas v Walsh
Thanks to anyone who voted.

Re: Light-middle Tournament - Round One
Ennis over Samake. I've never heard of Samake but I doubt it matters.
Fundora over Thurman
Ortiz over Lubin
Other than Israil Madrimov I've never heard of or seen the rest of these guys fight.

Re: Light-middle Tournament - Round One
Fun idea and some unexpected but interesting match ups. Have to admit that I would curious to see how these three play out: Ramos Jr vs. Adams, Baraou vs. Bohachuk, and Madrimov vs. Katzourakis.
Re: Light-middle Tournament - Round One
To the person who voted for Kelly over Murta, I want to buy you a beer

Re: Light-middle Tournament - Round One
I'd buy you several beers for no reason other than you're a top bloke & a boxing fan.
It would have to be Happy Hour though as San Diego is $10+ a beer ,and that's 16 ounce pints.

I'm the one who went for Lubin
I think he ruins the Ortiz/Ennis plans.
He's vulnerable, no doubt, but he's a top boxer with a wicked shot. I think he has a perfect fight in him, think he could do the biz against Ortiz.

I love Lubin. I was living in Florida when he was coming up. The loss to Charlo was a bit of a shocker.Bigdogsnose wrote: ↑16 Oct 2025, 03:05 I'm the one who went for Lubin![]()

I just feel that Ortiz is a bit special, if he's still OK at the weight.

Think it took him a while to get over the charlo loss. Then fundora was just a nightmare.Taansend wrote: ↑16 Oct 2025, 12:17I love Lubin. I was living in Florida when he was coming up. He has legit power and i also just wonder, stylewise, has ortiz faced a slick, black boxer with power?
Re: Light-middle Tournament - Round One
I suppose the closest to it would be Maurice Hooker.Bigdogsnose wrote: ↑16 Oct 2025, 15:02

Hooker also had arms like an albatross.
But this is a different fight. I wouldn't be massively surprised if Lubin won. But I'm still around 75-25 in favour of Ortiz.
Re: Light-middle Tournament - Round One
We're still neck & neck in the Barou v Bohachuk & the Zayas v Walsh fights.
It's funny with Bohachuk. He's a fornicating beast who gave Ortiz all sorts of trouble but he's fairly clueless against Adams.
Similar in a way to Figueroa against Fulton. Sometimes a bloke just has your number.

There’s some uneven votes.

I didn't vote on some of the fights because I don't know either fighterRuthless-RKO wrote: ↑16 Oct 2025, 17:40 There’s some uneven votes.

Or just vote blind. Like I do on the horses.
